Description
We are looking for a VP, Software Development Manager, who will be leading the Digital Experience and Cash & Liquidity solutions in the Investor Experience Technology organization that is responsible for providing exceptional solutions for financial advisors, end-investors and institutions. As an engineering leader in space, the position will be driving significant transformation through innovative, scalable and seamless payment solutions directly into digital experiences that are core to our advisors and investors. Candidate will need strong technical skills, ability to drive AI adoption/acceleration, designing systems that scale and shape the future of money movement. Strong project management expertise, ability to manage relationships with a range of stakeholders, driving engineering excellence and strong track record of building world class solutions.
VP of Software Engineering oversees software engineering talent across multiple product teams. The individual will be well versed in digital-native cloud technologies and have experience with the technologies listed below. The principal responsibilities for this position will be focused on setting up the technologists for success. This will include working cross functionally to ensure the development patterns are well defined and understood by the teams. Candidates will recruit and coach engineers to ensure they can successfully deliver technology solutions including standards, pre-production environments, and development tools. In addition, this position partners with other Agile team leaders to share learning, mitigate technical dependencies, plan for capacity needs and establish practice consistency between agile teams. Activities will also include daily oversight of development quality, partnering with solution architecture to establish patterns that progress the teams towards scalable platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Management: The Software Development Manager is responsible for managing a team of software developers and ensuring that they are productive, motivated, and aligned with the goals of the technology organization.
- Project Management: The Software Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of software projects. They are responsible for managing timelines, budgets, and resources, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Technical Expertise: The Software Development Manager is expected to have a deep understanding of the technology stack used in LPL Financial Services and be able to provide technical guidance to their team members. They are expected to keep up to date with the latest technologies and best practices
- Stakeholder Management: The Software Development Manager is responsible for managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This includes collaborating with other departments within the organization, as well as managing relationships with vendors, clients, and partners.
- Risk Management: The Software Development Manager is responsible for identifying and mitigating risks associated with software development projects. They need to ensure that appropriate controls are in place to manage risks related to cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Strategic Planning: The Software Development Manager is responsible for contributing to the strategic planning process of the organization. They need to be able to identify opportunities for technology to drive business growth and identify potential risks associated with emerging technologies.
- Continuous Improvement: The Software Development Manager is responsible for driving continuous improvement in the software development process. They need to be able to identify areas for improvement and implement changes that drive greater efficiency, productivity, and quality.

Requirements
- 10+ Years of demonstrated development team leadership.
- AWS Cloud migration and Payment’s experience is preferred.
- 15+ Years of experience within a combination of .NET, Angular and JavaScript, SQL Server, AWS (container and sever-less), Git, Visual Studio and/or front-end technologies including CSS, Semantic HTML and Responsive Design.
- Excellent knowledge of OOP concepts, data modeling design patterns/frameworks
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge in designing, refactoring, and unit testing
- Experience with Agile development process
- Excellent Communication and Coaching skills with demonstrated capacity to build consensus and empower developers to achieve independently.
- Preferred hands-on experience with MuleSoft, and/or other API Management tools
- Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using written and spoken English including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to team members
- Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
