Description
As part of Thomson Reuter’s D&A organization, the Vice President, Strategy & Operations – Data & Analytics leads the Data Strategy execution and evolution, which is expected to be refreshed and refined throughout the year. They also manage the end-to-end delivery of services and projects across D&A, and are responsible for creating and delivering business cases (including the administration required to record the associated financial information) on time and to budget. This role is responsible for being the executive lead of D&A for mergers and acquisition work. Finally, they are also responsible for managing training and business operations activities for the wider D&A organization.
This role reports directly into the Head of Data & Analytics and will partner across many stakeholders (C-level, Heads and cross-functional teams) to lead strategic, analytical, and procedural leadership to the data & analytics organization. This role will be a member of the D&A leadership team and will be looked upon to drive the culture change, shifting the company to be data driven.
Key Responsibilities
In this opportunity as Vice President, Strategy & Operations – Data & Analytics you will be responsible for:
Strategy and Leadership:
- Lead the Data & Analytics strategy evolution and execution, optimize efforts with other enterprise programs, driving the organization towards a data-driven culture.
- Lead the D&A roadmaps for data architecture, responsible AI and data use, data and AI marketplace, enterprise analytics, data management and shared services.
- Partner with and build trusting relationships with leadership and key stakeholders across enterprise functions and business units to ensure alignment across initiatives.
- Build & execute a comprehensive communications strategy that upskills data and analytics capabilities across the organization.
- Identify trends, patterns and insights on complex data sets to inform business strategy and improve operational effectiveness.
Operational Excellence:
- Establish and maintain performance metrics (e.g. KPIs) and scorecards that provide leadership the visibility into the organization’s progress of its goals.
- Manages and directs staff and matrixed resources and maximizes outsourced services to accomplish key deliverables.
- Prepare status reports for various stakeholders and develop formalized presentations for BoD and executive stakeholder briefings.
- Lead a business operations team that drives operational discipline and organizational cadences across Data & Analytics and D&A leadership team.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A):
- Lead the engagement for D&A on all mergers and acquisitions.
- Partner with corporate development and finance teams to identify data and analytics opportunities and risks in potential M&A transactions.
- Lead the due diligence processes of data systems, analytics functions, and AI models.
- Develop E2E data and analytics M&A integration plans in consultation with D&A LT teams.
Qualification & Requirements
You’re a fit for the role of Vice President, Strategy & Operations – Data & Analytics if your background includes:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in operations, business, computer science, IT, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience with a strong focus on large-scale program management, transformation, and/or delivery
- Experience in data and analytics and strong understanding of the role in mergers and acquisitions
- Prior experience working in a large, geographically dispersed organization
- Prior experience working in information technology, with prior experience in cybersecurity a plus
- Expertise in MS Office
- Strong knowledge of cloud database design, data modeling, and data warehousing principles.
- Experience with a variety of distributed systems patterns including data caching, federated search, event driven, synchronous and asynchronous processing.
- Familiarity with big data technologies, machine learning, and analytics platforms.
