Description

The Vice President, Revenue Cycle will have overall responsibility for leading the company’s Revenue Cycle function, both strategically and operationally. This includes systems and personnel oversight of all contracting, credentialing, billing, and collections processes. These processes are executed through a combination of both internal resources and an outsourced solution. The Vice President will develop a solid understanding of performance criteria to identify operational gaps adversely impacting financial performance.

Transformation of Revenue Cycle Infrastructure and Strategy

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies, and the ability to apply these as needed to accomplish key business and growth goals.
  • Experience leading complex, major change initiatives; demonstrated skills in change management and understanding of end-to-end RCM processes
  • Prepares and monitors Revenue Cycle operational budgets that meet prevailing objectives and constraints to ensure strict adherence with financial guidelines and requirements.
  • Develop and execute an analytics program that will allow company business leaders to make data-based decisions.
  • Implement the most appropriate and effective Revenue Cycle organizational design to support and engage with the business.
  • Ensure the highest level of transparency and collaboration between the Revenue Cycle organization and its business partners.

Revenue Cycle Operations

  • Experience developing and implementing cost effective Revenue Cycle strategies with a focus on integration with hospital systems, providers, and payor networks.
  • Experience working with Gross billing and/or Contract billing systems, preferably a mix of both.
  • Experience managing third party vendors for some / all revenue cycle processes
  • Oversee the enhancement and standardization of work-flow processes to achieve consistency in maintaining critical success factors.
  • Establish KPIs and objective performance metrics for managing Revenue Cycle effectiveness and for measuring the impact of IT; establish processes to ensure that KPIs are met.
  • Establish and enforce Revenue Cycle policies, processes, development standards and methodologies.
  • Proactive management of financial performance, delivering recommendations and results based upon financial metrics.
  • Experience developing projections and reports; producing and analyzing periodic reports that assist in monthly, quarterly and yearly forecasts for senior management and investor stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to improve the effectiveness of collection efforts and insurance billings.
  • Monitor the industry for developments in Revenue Cycle operations; evaluate and implement relevant new tools and service management frameworks.
  • Monitor key billing/collection statistics and compare national/regional/local benchmarks including, but not limited to, net collections, days in A/R, etc.
  • Lead critical RCM implementation projects involving multidisciplinary teams (clinical, business and IT) – ensure that the project is on time, on budget, and delivered with the highest quality.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA or Masters’ degree preferred
  • At least 10 years of leadership in RCM, with significant healthcare and IT/or clinical practice emphasis, with progressive experience directly managing complex IT, revenue cycle and operational projects in a healthcare
  • Knowledge of RCM and Practice Management technology offers; significant experience with commonly used clinical and financial systems and transaction processing
  • Solid understanding of internal billing revenue cycle operations; detailed knowledge of gross billing system management as well as accounts receivable billing
  • Detailed revenue cycle management skills for report interpretation and application to common sense operations.
  • Success in leading complex implementations and ongoing projects that involve multi-site practices and
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, blended with strong results oriented.
