Description

This person will advise on a broad range of global employment law and employee relations matters across the Oaktree group. This role will cover Oaktree’s offices in Hyderabad, GIFT City and Mumbai. This person will also be expected to work on US, EMEA and APAC employment law matters.

The role will be based full time in Hyderabad.

Vice President, Legal (Global Capability Center)

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on day-to-day employment and labor law issues, including recruitment matters, disciplinary action and preventative management as well as incentive and benefit entitlements across the Oaktree group ([US, EMEA and] APAC regions);
  • Drafting and negotiating employment contracts, incentive and carry documentation and settlement agreements;
  • Coordinating, managing and working with outside counsel on employment and benefits issues requiring law firm support;
  • Providing disputes / litigation support when required;
  • Providing guidance, conducting research, and monitoring pending changes and trends in employment and labor-related laws;
  • Running training on workplace related matters;
  • Maintaining, updating and drafting employee handbooks and policies.
  • Performing other tasks and projects as necessary.

Qualification & Requirements

Experience Required

  • Willingness to relocate to Hyderabad, if necessary.
  • Law degree and qualified solicitor.
  • Indicative guide of at least 10 years of relevant experience with a [law firm and / or within the financial services industry or asset management industry (although equivalent experience will be considered).
  • Extensive understanding and experience of employment law and compensation arrangements across India and preferably US, EMEA and / or APAC regions.
  • Ability to review, draft and negotiate contracts is required.
  • Experience in dealing with senior business stakeholders and managing ambiguity, especially in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional English writing, drafting and communication skills are mandatory.
