Description

Leadership role responsible for the overall quality day-to-day delivery of tax filing, directly and indirectly, through team managers. This role is a member of senior leadership ensuring excellence in delivery across the entire Tax Filing organization. Responsible for developing managers at various levels in the areas of people development, management, and tax filing expertise; driving and spearheading transformative initiatives focused on quality delivery and optimizing operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Key Responsibilities:

  • Transformational Leadership : Lead and inspire a team of professionals to embrace change and drive excellence across all aspects of quality management. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the organization.
  • Service Optimization : Evaluate existing frameworks, systems, and processes to identify areas of improvement and optimization. Implement innovative solutions to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and minimize risks.
  • Continuous Improvement : Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and maximize resource utilization. Implement best practices and benchmarks to measure and monitor quality performance across the organization.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration : Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of quality initiatives and delivery.
  • Performance Metrics and Reporting : using defined key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, assess the effectiveness of ongoing operations and training. Ability to generate reports and dashboards to communicate performance and improvement efforts to senior management.

Other Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage the team’s daily operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality execution of tax filing deliverables in alignment with deadlines and priorities
  • Serve as a strategic and technical resource, guiding the team in resolving complex issues and providing subject matter expertise to both clients and internal partners
  • Act as a primary liaison between clients, internal teams, and payroll to resolve tax filing-related issues and escalations; develop and oversee resolution plans when needed
  • Serve as an acting backup to the leadership of your organization (up, down, and across)
  • Build strong internal partnerships to drive efficient, creative solutions for client needs and ensure alignment with tax filing best practices and evolving points of view
  • Monitor team performance using metrics and reporting; leverage data to identify gaps, improve processes, and enhance service delivery
  • Mentor and develop managers and team members, fostering accountability, growth, and high performance; support hiring, onboarding, and training efforts to ensure team fit and readiness
  • Manage relationships with tax filing suppliers to ensure timely and accurate execution
  • Coordinate and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring documentation, training, and communication are up-to-date and effectively delivered
  • Support leadership (up, down, and across) as a backup and participate in strategic initiatives, special projects, or cross-functional collaboration as needed

Qualification & Requirements

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in payroll tax filing or a closely related field, with advanced subject matter expertise and deep knowledge of relevant regulatory and legislative guidelines
  • 7+ years of client-facing experience, including client management and relationship-building
  • 7+ years of people leadership, including 5+ years leading managers and/or team supervisors
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with payroll tax software processing; MasterTax highly preferred, ADP Smart Compliance desired
  • Moderate project management experience with ability to lead initiatives using project planning and facilitation skills
  • Proven leadership and management skills with a track record of motivating teams to deliver high performance
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities; skilled at working with stakeholders at all levels
  • Solid background in operational management, driving efficiency and execution
  • Experience in outsourcing and consulting, specifically within payroll tax, tax filing, or closely related domains

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or relevant /required work experience
