Description
Join our team in Sparta as a Sr. Human Resources Manager and become the essential glue that helps hold our people and culture together. In this strategic role, you’ll drive HR initiatives that foster a positive and productive workplace—enhancing the entire employee life cycle for both salaried and hourly team members. You’ll lead key programs in performance management, talent development, and succession planning, all while aligning closely with the needs of our manufacturing plant. As a trusted advisor and cultural ambassador, you’ll play an integral role on both the tesa North America HR team and the Sparta Plant Management team, helping us stick to what matters most: our people.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Collaboration
- Collaborate with the General Manager to shape the company’s long-term goals and mission
- Work with plant leadership to align annual objectives with performance processes, including goal setting, succession planning, professional development, and reviews
- Partner with key leaders to address workforce needs and challenges, driving HR initiatives that support plant strategy
- Apply insights from plant floor and leadership interactions to achieve operating plans
Employee Relations
- Guide and develop a Human Resources Generalist to support key HR initiatives and daily operations
- Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management on HR matters across all shifts
- Oversee employee relations by coaching, supporting, and advising local supervisors to promote workforce engagement and reduce unwanted turnover
- Conduct investigations and recommends resolutions
- Create and implement recognition and relationship-building programs
- Lead exit interviews, offering feedback and suggestions for improvement
- Oversee plant headcount and cost management
Employee Training and Development
- Train and coach leaders on effective people management, including communication, coaching, discipline, performance improvement, and terminations
- Collaborate with Talent Management to deliver leadership training on standards, diversity, conflict resolution, harassment, and more to promote a positive work environment
- Oversee the Mechatronics apprenticeship program for current and future talent
- Manage state grants to maximize reimbursement opportunitiesThrough coordinated effort with the HR
- Generalist, documents and submits employee data changes timely in accordance with established payroll, HR practices and policies as defined by Regional HR
- Represent the plant in quality audits, including IATF and customer audits of employee competence/training and motivation
- Participate in all leadership position interviews to ensure that the selected candidate meets plant expectations for positive people management
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5+ years of Human Resources experience, including at least 2 years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working in a Center of Excellence, or Shared Services HR model; preferred
- Excellent communication and coaching skills
- Ability to drive performance and talent management processes
- HR certification or master’s degree in HR; preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Working knowledge of current employment and laws/regulations
- Willing and able to support employees on all shifts; accessible by phone to 3rd shift employees, meeting in person when needed
- Ability to travel up to 10%
