The HR Total Rewards Senior Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the compensation, benefits, leaves, and rewards programs that support a diverse workforce in a manufacturing environment, supporting multiple divisions and locations of Indiana Packers Corporation, a $1.5B company with approximately 3000 employees across four facilities. Working closely with HR leadership and senior executives, the Senior Manager will develop total rewards strategies that reinforce the company’s high-performance culture and global business objectives.

This unique role ensures that the company’s total rewards strategy remains competitive, compliant, and aligned with business objectives while attracting, retaining, and engaging top talent at all levels, from hourly production team members to salaried staff. This position will report to the Vice-President of Human Resources for Indiana Packers Corporation, and will be based in our Delphi, Indiana facility. Will consider a hybrid based role, but prefer local candidates. Delphi, Indiana is conveniently located close to the Greater Lafayette, Indiana (home of Purdue University), and the Indianapolis metro area (1 hour).

Key Responsibilities

Compensation/Incentive Programs:

  • Develop and maintain compensation structures, salary bands, and hourly wage scales to support both hourly and salaried team members, including oversight and management of our payroll departments.
  • Oversee the performance management process, including the configuration and administration using our HRIS system, creating job descriptions, area/industry benchmarking ensure pay equity and competitiveness within our industry.
  • Oversee our Sales Incentive Plans (SIP), Discretionary Bonus Programs, and other performance-based incentive plans.
  • Collaborate with Division HR Staff on matters regarding Compensation, Benefits, and Leaves.

Benefits/Wellness Programs:

  • Oversee, manage and administer our self-insured health, dental, vision, 401k, pension plans, disability, and retirement plans, ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Oversee leave programs (FMLA, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and ADA) and work closely with HR, Safety, Operations, and other company departments as needed.
  • Develop and promote team member wellness programs that address the unique challenges of a dynamic manufacturing/processing environment.
  • Manage and partner with vendors, brokers, and consultants to optimize benefit offerings while managing costs.
  • Manage and oversee the on-site employee health clinic, ensuring operational excellence, strategic alignment with workforce health initiatives, and achievement of targeted return on investment (ROI) through cost savings, enhanced productivity, and employee engagement.

HR Compliance/Analytics:

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws, including wage and hour compliance, pay transparency, and benefits regulations.
  • Maintain and analyze HR metrics and compensation data, providing insights to HR leadership and other functional leaders.
  • Lead internal and external audits of compensation and benefits programs to maintain compliance and accuracy.

Team member Experience/Communication:

  • Develop clear and effective communication strategies to educate team members on total rewards offerings.
  • Conduct team member training sessions and informational meetings to ensure understanding of pay structures, benefits, and incentives.
  • Serve as a key resource for team members and managers on compensation, benefits, and total rewards inquiries.
  • Key leader for 4-5 reports and additional dotted line reports throughout our remote facilities.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in compensation, benefits, or total rewards, preferably in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation structures for hourly, salaried, and union/non-union workforces.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, payroll software, and compensation benchmarking tools.
  • Demonstrated experience working with or leading an HR Shared Services function, with responsibility for the efficient, compliant, and customer-focused delivery of benefits administration and payroll processing across a multi-state workforce.
  • Expertise in FLSA, ERISA, ACA, FMLA, and other labor laws relevant to manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with HR, Finance, and Operations teams.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) preferred.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on the site including exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required.
  • The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in cold, hot, and outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
