Description
As an Application Engineering Shared Services Leader and the Site Leader for Digital Technology Services (DTS) at Docusign India you will be responsible for leading, scaling, maturing, and operationalizing Docusign’s DTS India team as Docusign accelerates its global expansion and growth. This leader will be fully accountable for DTS India application engineering shared services practices, platform engineering, defining strategy and achieving organizational, technical, and business results in partnership with DTS Senior leadership including CISO, and Docusign’s cross-functional leaders. This leader will build a strong, cohesive, and collaborative team to foster innovation and engineering excellence.
The position is a people manager role reporting to the Vice President of Application Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and operate Application Engineering Center of Excellence to accelerate Fullstack development strategy
- Lead architecting, building, and scaling robust, secure, and high-performing platforms that power our core business applications and services with deep expertise in cloud native, modern web and backend technologies
- Establish and operate Applications Platform Engineering services to define architecture, frameworks, reusable tools, monitor and management of platform health, and self-service capabilities for improving developer experience, faster time to market, working closely with Infrastructure, Security teams
- Adopt AI/ML technologies, practice AI First mindset, especially integration and management of AI Agents or similar intelligent automation for business or customer-facing applications
- Lead the delivery, management, and execution of complex, high-impact projects in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
- Drive innovation through technology research and development, proof-of-concept, experimentation of emerging technology trends, security standards for DTS to adopt and deliver Business outcomes
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of influencing senior stakeholders and motivating large, diverse teams
- Passion for mentoring, developing talent, and fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture
- Provide functional guidance to foster innovation, technical & security advancement, and the development of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within the India site
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices, ensuring high standards for code quality, performance, and security
- Drive technical delivery and program execution, ensuring alignment with Docusign’s global standards and business objectives
- Operate an IPA/RPA Automation center of excellence to address immediate business needs
- Monitor, assess, govern, secure software selection for Docusign enterprise needs
- Maintain, govern, and optimize Application Engineering Software Inventory, and Vendor Spend
- Serve as point of contact for any DTS major incidents/escalations during APJ/EMEA hours
- Serve as the executive figurehead and primary point of contact for all DTS-related matters at the India site ensuring smooth operations aligned with global practices, including escalations, influence and shape site strategy, local vendor relationships, and acting as a proxy for the Country Leader as needed
- Scale DTS India organization, fostering Docusign’s culture, maintain high performance and quality, and implement best practices, key performance measures to drive operational excellence and protecting Docusign’s assets
- Mature DTS India organization to become an autonomous, high-performing teams capable of end-to-end product design and delivery across Application Product Management, Application Engineering, Data Engineering, Release, Quality, DevOps, and Security
- Foster cross-functional collaboration and participation in site-wide initiatives to strengthen team cohesion, innovation, and maintain high employee engagement, balance between India and US teams, optimizing cross-timezone workflows and communication
- Build, develop DTS talent acquisition and retention strategy, hiring, university partnerships with premier institutions and industry recruiting, ensuring a strong pipeline of diverse, high-caliber talents to build and sustain a high-performing, diverse team in partnership with HR and Talent Acquisition
Qualification & Requirements
Basic
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field
- 10+ years of leading world-class product and engineering teams at global scale with US experience
- Proven experience building engineering teams from scratch and/or co-leading a Global Development Center for a top-tier tech company
- Strong understanding of the Indian tech ecosystem, competitive landscape, and talent market
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
Preferred
- Experience implementing standardized engineering, product, IT, and development principles aligned to global strategy
- Track record of driving success across matrixed organizations and partnering with IT, Product, UX, Business Development, and Channels
- Significant experience managing day-to-day operations of large engineering organizations
- Experience building and developing organizations at scale, including managing 50%+ year-over-year headcount growth
- Expertise in attracting, retaining, and developing high-potential talent through robust talent management initiatives
- Strong work ethic, humility, and energy to lead others, with a competitive and optimistic mindset
- Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership presence
- Entrepreneurial spirit, adaptability to change, and enthusiasm for Docusign’s culture, values, and business value proposition
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)
