Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager Pay Services.

Reporting to the Director HR Services, this position is responsible for leading the improvement and modernization of payroll operations, driving payroll transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Modernize Payroll Operations: Lead the improvement and modernization of payroll operations by streamlining processes, implementing new systems, and adopting best practices.
  • Process Assessment and Optimization: Continuously assess current payroll processes and systems, identify opportunities for efficiency, and implement streamlined workflows.
  • Payroll Transformation Projects: Drive payroll transformation initiatives, leveraging payroll management expertise to deliver measurable improvements in efficiency and accuracy.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with evolving payroll regulations and statutory requirements, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of payroll operations.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Provide strong, influential leadership to the payroll team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Reporting and Analytics Enhancement: Enhance payroll reporting and analytics capabilities to monitor key performance indicators and analyze data for ongoing process improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate organizational change and ensure the seamless integration of new payroll systems and processes.
  • Shared Services Management: Efficiently and effectively lead a shared service payroll organization, ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees, pensioners, and Board members, and on-time remittances to governments and third parties

Qualification & Requirements

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources or a related field
  • Minimum ten (10) years experience within Payroll, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience managing a team
  • Canadian Payroll Manager (CPM) Designation
  • Prior experience in leading a payroll process transformation/optimization
  • Experience working in a unionized environment (a strong asset)
  • Experience with using SAP software (a strong asset)
  • Strong payroll analytics and reporting experience (strong asset)
