Description

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Operational Risk Officer in Operational Risk Management as part of the Finance & Financial Reporting Risk Oversight group.

This role will assist the Finance and Financial Reporting Risk Oversight (FFRRO) leader with all matters pertaining to independent Operational Risk coverage and oversight. This role is specifically aligned to the FFRRO Shared Services team and will assist in leading and coordinating key execution routines, risk programs, and strategic initiatives. The role is also responsible for governance, oversight, and credibly challenging operational risk exposures and risk management practices through monitoring, analyzing, and developing standards for remediating risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events.

Senior Lead Operational Risk Officer – Finance & Financial Reporting Risk Oversight

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and challenge the Finance function across all aspects of the risk management life cycle (plan, identify and assess, control, monitor and report, test and validate).
  • Coordinate critical administrative activities associated with the Finance Operational Risk Business Oversight and Financial Reporting Risk Oversight functions.
  • Facilitate leadership meetings, management routines, reviews and initiatives required for successful execution.
  • Coordinate operational risk executive reporting for Finance Operational Risk Business Oversight and Financial Reporting Risk Oversight.
  • Engage with Control Executive teams, Business Management and Independent Risk teams to promote a strong operational risk culture.
  • Engage in key Finance risk governance routines including strategic planning sessions, governance committees and business reviews.
  • Identify and escalate conflicts with risk management results and expected business outcomes.
  • Influence appropriate risk management prioritization by the front line to enable Finance to meet strategic objectives, while meeting operational risk program expectations.
  • Evaluate cross-program and cross-group analytics to identify opportunities and best practices to influence stronger risk management.
  • Active engagement with Independent Risk Management risk teams supporting various risk types to ensure appropriate alignment and prioritization.
  • Develop and deliver oversight content summarizing the results of the independent risk assessment activities.
  • Provide a business-centric view to IRM risk programs as needed.
  • Engage with businesses, as appropriate, to effect changes to the operational risk program.
  • Partner with both internal and external stakeholders, including resources from all three lines of defense.
  • Drive team onboarding program to ensure appropriate orientation and training resources are available for new hires.

Qualification & Requirements

Required

  • 7+ years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired

  • Proven leadership skills to influence change and drive alignment across all levels of stakeholders to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions.
  • Strong executive communication skills, in both written and verbal formats.
  • Meaningful knowledge of the enterprise risk management frameworks and the ORM Methodology, including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance, ORM execution and monitoring routines, and risk management programs.
  • Understanding of the Finance functions (Controller, Treasury, Business Finance, Financial/Regulatory Reporting) business operations, processes, and products where they manifest risk.
  • Ability to rationalize operations to drive efficiency.
  • Strong strategic and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Data and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills.
