Description
Equinix is global enterprise with operations across 6 continents and over 200 IBXs. Additionally, we also support xScale franchise, through various service agreements. This role is for a leader to run a global controllership organization within xScale. This individual will report directly to our VP Corporate Controller, but will be in a matrixed organization supporting VP of Finance and others.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and direct a global team of over 25 accounting professionals within xScale Controllership, providing guidance and development opportunities. Teams are located in Singapore, Tampa, FL., Sao Paulo, Brazil and Bogota, Columbia
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, revenue accounting, lease accounting, construction accounting and fixed asset management. Ensure timely compliance of all regulatory matters, including but not limited to ESG related (CSRD), Statutory Reports, Statical Reports, Tax and regulatory compliance
- Cross functional coordination, collaboration and influencing to ensure matters are completed, including Global Shared Services (AR & AP), Global Controllership (Statutory Reporting, Technical Accounting, Consolidations and Assurance), Tax, FP&A and Treasury,
- Business Partnering with various non finance stakeholders being the point of contact providing advice, optionality, clarity, business process and leadership. Including but not limited to Sales & Sales Administration, Procurement, Operations, Design and Construction, Legal, Corporate Development and others
- Communications and escalation point of contact with Senior leadership within the larger Equinix organization, xScale organization and where necessary JV investors
- Ensure the timely preparation of comprehensive financial data and statements for xScale, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks within the business unit, providing insights to management for decision-making
- Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards, internal controls, and corporate policies to maintain financial accuracy and mitigate risks. Including US GAAP, IFRS and other accounting standards
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes for all Joint Ventures and legal entities
- Provide sound and timely insight to support decisions, ensure JV and Equinix considerations and impacts are well thought out. Ensure that xScale also balances the needs of Equinix, including deconsolidation and financial impact
- Ability to time manage will be critical as there are multiple global time zones individual will be responsible for
- Building a team to scale, including process optimization/ continuous improvement, automation and systems assessment
- Understanding and working in a matrix reporting structure
Qualification & Requirements
- Qualified Accountant and Degree in Accountancy; with at least 10 years (out of which at least 5 years in people management in global enterprises) of working experience in operational and technical accounting background; preferably in Financial Reporting, GL and subledgers like Fixed Asset, Revenue and intercompany transactions
- Knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP and financial compliance
- Team leader with can-do attitude & positivity mindset, details oriented, meticulous at work, analytical and possesses good problem-solving skills
- Understanding of Oracle EPM, Hyperion PBCS, OneStream (not required, but preferred) and MS Office
- Public Accounting experience (Big 4 preferred)
- BS in Accounting and Finance
- CPA or other designated professional qualification
