Description

The Senior Director – Analysis, Change, and Quality is a key leadership role within the Strategy and Operations department at UMGC. This position is responsible for shaping and executing the university’s digital and technology strategy for Quality Management, Business Analysis, and Organizational Change Management. The Senior Director partners cross-functionally with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and delivery teams to ensure UMGC delivers exceptional technology products and services that meet and exceed stakeholder expectations.

This leader will champion a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence—driving digital transformational initiatives and ensuring compliance with industry best practices. The Senior Director will be accountable for the development and execution of quality assurance strategies, business analysis frameworks, and organizational change management programs that enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and impact digital initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the teams that serve as UMGC’s core support for digital and technology strategy, integrating Quality Assurance (QA), Business Analysis (BA), and Organizational Change Management (OCM) disciplines.
  • Strategic Leadership: Ensure all digital transformation initiatives are tightly aligned with UMGC’s strategic priorities, maximizing the return on digital investments. Collaborate with executive leadership to define and execute strategies that advance digital transformation and institutional objectives.
  • Integrated Shared Services: Develop and implement integrated QA, BA, and OCM strategies, ensuring all technology and process changes meet technical, business, and user requirements.
  • Process Improvement & Standardization: Drive the execution of strategic and operational initiatives by standardizing processes, developing best practices, and building subject matter expertise across QA, BA, and OCM. Oversee the creation and adoption of standardized processes, frameworks, and best practices to drive efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability.
  • Change Enablement: Champion organizational change management to drive adoption, minimize disruption, and ensure sustainable digital transformation for all stakeholders.
  • Performance Measurement: Develop, track, and report on key metrics and dashboards to measure the impact, adoption, and quality of digital initiatives.
  • Customer Advocacy: Partner with business stakeholders and technology teams as the voice of the learner, faculty, and staff, ensuring digital solutions are designed and delivered with the end-user experience in mind.
  • Continuous Innovation: Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, leveraging automation, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams of QA, BA, and OCM professionals, including internal staff and external partners.
  • Resource & Budget Management:
    Effectively manage departmental resources, vendor relationships, and budgets to support strategic technology priorities and adapt to evolving needs.
  • Training & Communication: Provide ongoing training, communication, and support to ensure alignment, readiness, and engagement across stakeholder groups.

Qualification & Requirements

Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in the IT industry, ideally in education technology with a focus on IT enterprise solutions.
  • A proven leader with a track record of delivering high quality products and IT enterprise solutions that deliver impact and meet the requirements and needs of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable success in creating, launching and scaling quality standards, in collaboration with business leaders and university partners.
  • Technically proficient in product quality management, analysis, software development and engineering; able to work closely with engineers and stakeholders to achieve desired results.
  • Excellent skills to influence teams and drive clarity and focus on complex problems.
  • Strategic, analytical, and innovative thinker with a track record of delivering results in fast-paced, agile environments.
  • A change agent and strategic thinker accustomed to working in dynamic, agile, fast-paced environments.
  • Proven ability to standardize processes and develop best practices across complex organizations.
  • Experience managing offshore teams and vendor relationships is highly desirable.

  • Tuition Remission: Immediate availability for Regular Exempt Staff. Spouses and dependent children are eligible for undergraduate tuition remission after two years of service. NOTE: For part-time employees (at least 50 percent of the time), tuition remission benefits are prorated.
