Description
Reporting to the Director, Strategy, Planning and Performance the Program Manager, Technology Transformation is responsible for establishing a transformation to standardize our core operational processes, and simplify our technology landscape.
Technology Transformation is a multi-year strategy to evolve our technology operating model to support Teck’s Growth strategy. Teck has the potential to develop 10 new mining operations in the next decade. This program ensures we have a scalable organization to operate in a cost effective, consistent and scalable way.
The Program Manager, Technology Transformation role is multi-faceted requiring experience delivering multi-year, complex technology-based programs, orchestrating significant company change, interacting with senior executives, and leading a multi-year $20M+ budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhering to and sponsoring safety and environmental policies and procedures as well as providing visible leadership to other areas aligned to Teck’s core values such as Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive technology transformation roadmap aligned with the company’s business goals.
- Program Management: Oversee the execution of technology projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Governance Structures: Define and implement governance structures, including steering committees and working groups, to oversee project progress and decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, department heads, and external partners to ensure on-going alignment for transformation initiatives.
- Change Management: Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new technologies and processes across the organization.
- Risk and Issue Management: Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues that could impact the success of technology transformation projects. Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
- Performance Monitoring: Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the success of technology transformation initiatives and report progress to stakeholders and other governance groups.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a large distributed team of internal and contract project and technology professionals.
- Financial management: including coordinating budgets, forecast and capital allocation processes.
Qualification & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology transformation, IT management, or a related role.
- Proven program delivery of greater than US$5M, experience in industrial environments considered an asset.
- Strong program & project management skills with a proven track record of delivering complex technology programs & projects.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, and use influence and negotiation to drive alignment or resolve conflict.
- Ability to think critically, solving problems that may arise systematically at their root cause.
- Ability to apply successful partner, vendor management and governance strategies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills at both technical and executive level.
- Experience with coordinating change management for significant organization change and leading cross-functional teams.
