Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Manager to oversee our payroll operations in Spain and Portugal. In this role, you will manage and coordinate all payroll activities for employees in both countries including the temporary workers. Your primary focus will be ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing in accordance with company policies and local legislation. You will maintain payroll data and systems integrity and collaborate with various stakeholders to identify and implement the best processes and solutions to support business operations. This role requires a strong understanding of local payroll regulations, excellent organisational and interpersonal skill, a change and transformation mindset, and the ability to handle complex payroll scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage end-to-end payroll operations for Spain and Portugal for all the employees of the company
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including salary calculations, deductions, and statutory contributions.
- Stay updated with local payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements for each country.
- Collaborate with all the different stakeholders of the business including external vendors to ensure a smooth payroll processing and provide guidance and support to People and Culture and Finance teams regarding payroll processes, compliance, and reporting.
- Constant review and update of the payroll processes to review and validate payroll inputs, including employee data, time-sheets, employee benefits, and deductions, for accuracy and compliance.
- Develop and implement payroll policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and data security.
- Coordinate period-end payroll processes, including tax reporting, social security registrations and payments, and the different compliance filings for each of the countries.
- Continuous search of opportunities to implement payroll system enhancements, upgrades, and integration’s to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Conduct periodic payroll audits to ensure data accuracy, identify discrepancies, and resolve any payroll-related issues.
- Develop and deliver payroll training programs to ensure awareness and understanding of payroll policies and procedures.
- Lead and manage a team of payroll technicians, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and career development opportunities.
Qualification & Requirements
- Proved experience as a Payroll Manager with a focus on managing payroll operations in Spain and Portugal.
- In-depth knowledge of local payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of statutory deductions, tax rates, social security requirements, and benefits regulations in Spain and Portugal.
- Experience working with payroll service advisors and managing relationships with external vendors.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office.
- Proactivity, capacity to work under pressure and strong ethics
- Fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.
