Description

The North America Payroll Director leads the company’s payroll function and team for approximately 17,000 employees across all U.S. states and Canadian provinces.

North America Payroll Director

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to optimize the North American payroll practices, team, and technology.
  • Design and implement workflows and internal controls to ensure payroll is consistently accurate, timely and in compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, state and local payroll and wage tax requirements.
  • Working closely with IT, evaluate current and alternative payroll technology, and implement improvements to payroll processing and delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiencies and synergies, streamline processes to enhance the end-user experience and execute accordingly.
  • Develop reporting capabilities, providing data analytics and metrics to support decisions.
  • Oversee payroll administration through the company’s shared service center and field HR. team members.
  • Participate in recruiting, training and developing payroll experts at the company’s shared service center and local HR.
  • Participate in acquisition due diligence and integration.

Qualification & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years leading multiple high-volume, high-frequency multi-state, and province hourly and salaried payrolls within an organization of more than 5,000 employees.
  • Demonstrated experience building or transforming a large-scale payroll function.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and executing large-scale projects.
  • Experience managing acquisition payroll integration.
  • Experience with SAP and SuccessFactors highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in system implementations preferred.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 15-25%, including international
