Description

The Manager, Transactional Accounting – Financial Shared Services oversees the day-to-day operations of accounts payable, supplier database management, and ERP transactional workflows. This role is essential to ensure fast, accurate and efficient processing of the company’s transactional financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of transactional accounting teams (accounts payable, expense accounts, master data, cash receipts)
  • Support teams in solving problems related to the processing of daily operations
  • Support teams in the proper coding of daily transactions
  • Collaborate with IT team to resolve erroneous transactions
  • Review and approve the creation of new suppliers, new customers, new banks
  • Ensure the consistency and accuracy of master data for suppliers, customers, banks and the approval matrix
  • Implement best practices in data governance
  • Collaborate with the IT team to maintain data security, and manage any updates or modifications
  • Coordinate the closing process of monthly transactional modules
  • Review monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts versus auxiliaries, support teams in investigating discrepancies and making necessary corrections
  • Participate in various special projects and ad hoc requests to improve the book closing process and various transactional accounting processes
  • Participate in the evolution of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in partnership with the IT team
  • Lead the automation and implementation of processes for daily operations
  • Document the internal processes of transactional teams
  • Establish and maintain rigorous internal controls
  • Ensure the application of internal policies and controls in the processing of day-to-day operations, including compliance with authority policies and audit trail retention
  • Respond to requests from internal and external auditors by providing the necessary documentation and explanations
  • Develop, maintain and monitor key performance indicators for transactional accounting teams
  • Prepare reports on the performance of day-to-day operations processing in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for senior management
  • Hire, manage, train and develop transactional accounting teams
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages efficiency and responsibility

Qualification & Requirements

  • University degree in accounting;
  • CPA designation, an asset;
  • Minimum 8 years in accounting;
  • Minimum 5 years in personnel supervision;
  • Excellent ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines;
  • Adaptability to change within a growing company
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills;
  • Excellent analytical skills and autonomy;
  • Problem-solving skills;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Versatile in transactional accounting
  • Experience with a publicly traded company;
  • Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency company;
  • Experience in implementing ERP applications and systems – an asset;
  • Bilingualism (French and English, both spoken and written) required to ensure collaboration with various stakeholders outside Quebec on a recurring basis. Knowledge of Spanish is an asset.
