Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple functional teams within the RCM Shared Services unit, including but not limited to patient collections, reporting/analysis and payment posting research.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the shared services teams, ensuring timely and accurate processing of tasks that support the larger revenue cycle efforts.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure operational efficiency, excellence in service delivery, and high levels of employee engagement.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Monitor performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle leadership to align team goals with the department’s strategic objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining and standardizing processes across functional areas to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Implement best practices and ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with other managers within the RCM department to ensure seamless integration of shared services activities.
  • Act as a liaison between shared services and other operational teams, ensuring that business needs are effectively communicated and met. Foster strong working relationships with IT, finance, and other departments to ensure effective support and technology integration.
  • Provide regular reports on team performance, operational challenges, and progress toward goals to senior management.
  • Analyze trends in revenue cycle data and identify actionable insights to improve outcomes across the revenue cycle process.
  • Ensure that all team activities comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Stay updated on relevant healthcare regulations, billing practices, and coding guidelines to maintain compliance.
  • Assist in managing risks related to billing errors, denials, and other revenue cycle challenges.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in revenue cycle management or healthcare operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of revenue cycle processes, including billing, coding, claims processing, and collections.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop cross-functional teams, drive process improvements, and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Proficient in healthcare revenue cycle management software and electronic health records (EHR), preferably Athena.
  • Intermediate/Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Familiarity with database reporting concepts, analytics and reporting.
  • Call center experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using data-driven insights and root cause analysis to recommend changes and measure the impact of process enhancements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
