Description

The Head – Record to Report (R2R) is a senior leadership role responsible for managing end-to-end financial accounting, close, reporting, and controllership processes across regions. The role ensures timely and accurate financial close, strong governance and compliance, working capital discipline, and process standardization and automation, while partnering closely with business, operations, and global stakeholders.

This position is pivotal in ensuring financial integrity and supporting strategic decision-making in a complex, high-transaction logistics environment.

To lead and govern the Record to Report function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, on-time close, strong internal controls, and continuous process improvement. The role drives finance transformation initiatives, strengthens compliance, and builds a high-performing R2R organization aligned with business and operational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Close & Reporting

  • Own and lead end-to-end Record to Report processes, including GL accounting, reconciliations, provisions, accruals, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure on-time month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across all regions and business units.
  • Deliver accurate financial statements in compliance with company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and analyze financial results, highlight variances, and provide insights to senior management.
  • Coordinate with FP&A, Tax, AP, AR, and Operations teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data.

Working Capital & DSO Management

  • Drive effective controls and governance to achieve targeted Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) metrics.
  • Partner with OTC, sales, and operations teams to address billing accuracy, disputes, and collection challenges.
  • Monitor AR aging trends, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to improve cash flow.
  • Provide regular dashboards and insights on working capital performance.

Finance Automation & Digital Transformation

  • Lead and sponsor finance automation initiatives, including vendor portals, digital invoicing, and workflow tools.
  • Drive adoption of automation to ensure high percentage of invoices and transactions processed digitally.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve controls, and enhance data accuracy.

Controls, Compliance & Audit

  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and compliance frameworks.
  • Act as a key finance representative for internal audits, statutory audits, and regulatory reviews.
  • Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to tax, regulatory, and statutory requirements relevant to logistics operations.

Stakeholder & Business Partnership

  • Act as a trusted finance partner to senior leadership, operations, and regional heads.
  • Provide timely financial insights to support business decisions and operational efficiency.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively on risks, issues, and improvement initiatives.

People Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead, mentor, and develop large R2R teams across locations.
  • Build a culture of accountability, trust, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear goals, priorities, and performance metrics aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Drive training, succession planning, and capability development within the finance function.

Qualification & Requirements

Education

  • Essential: Chartered Accountant (CA) / MBA (Finance) / equivalent professional qualification
  • Preferred: Exposure to global finance environments or shared services operations

Experience

  • 12–18+ years of progressive experience in Record to Report and Finance Operations
  • Proven experience managing large teams and multi-region finance operations
  • Strong exposure to logistics, transportation, supply chain, or high-volume transaction environments
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and finance automation initiatives
  • Strong background in audits, compliance, and internal controls
