As Head of SSC, you will take full ownership of a rapidly growing Service Center in Gdańsk and lead its evolution through the next phases of maturity.

Client Details

A Shared Services Center has been launched recently. The foundations are in place, the first teams are up and running, and demand from the business continues to grow. What’s needed now is not someone to “keep things running” – but a strategic leader who will shape the next stage of growth, bring structure and scale, and turn a young SSC into a strong, mature Center of Excellence. This role sits at a pivotal moment in the SSC’s journey.

The opportunity

As Head of SSC, you will take full ownership of a rapidly growing Service Center in Gdańsk and lead its evolution through the next phases of maturity.

You will build on existing structures, scale service delivery, and expand the portfolio beyond Finance into HR, IT, Procurement and other business support functions. You’ll partner closely with global stakeholders to ensure the SSC delivers measurable value, operational excellence, and long‑term scalability.

This is a role with real influence – strategic, people-focused, and transformation-driven.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Define the SSC’s target operating model, growth roadmap, and service strategy.
  • Translate global business priorities into scalable local execution.
  • Establish governance, decision-making frameworks, and performance standards.

Operational Excellence

  • Lead multi-functional teams across Finance and non‑Finance service lines.
  • Ensure reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Own KPIs, SLAs, service reviews, and continuous performance improvement.

Transformation & Scale

  • Drive process standardization, automation, and digital enablement (ERP, RPA, workflow tools).
  • Lead service transitions, expansions, and maturity uplift initiatives.
  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline.

People & Culture

  • Develop and empower local leaders; build strong succession pipelines.
  • Create an engaging, high-performance culture during rapid growth.
  • Balance hands-on leadership with strategic oversight.

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Act as a trusted partner to global and regional leaders.
  • Ensure transparency, alignment, and strong internal customer satisfaction.
  • Position the SSC as a strategic asset, not just a service provider.

Qualification & Requirements

What we’re looking for

This role is ideal for a leader who has already scaled or matured SSC/GBS organizations, particularly during high-growth phases.

Experience & background

  • 6-10+ years of senior leadership experience in SSC/GBS environments.
  • Proven exposure to multi-functional service delivery (Finance + HR, IT, Procurement).
  • Strong transformation track record (process excellence, automation, migrations).
  • Experience working in complex, international, matrixed organizations.

Leadership style

  • Strategic, structured, and calm in fast-changing environments.
  • Able to combine vision with pragmatic execution.
  • Strong stakeholder influence and communication skills.
  • People-focused, emotionally intelligent, and decisive.

Other

  • Fluent English and native-level or advanced Polish.
  • University degree required; MBA or professional certifications are a plus.
