Description
As the Head of Human Resources Shared Services, APAC, your primary role is about delivering exceptional HR services and products in the area of HR administration, Time & Attendance, Payroll and driving streamlined processes as well ensuring data quality, time accuracy and compliance. With SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central (SAP SF-EC) as our global master data core system, we have built the foundation, and we will continue to invest and implement digital solutions that enhance organizational efficiency and drive excellent employee experience. For the APAC region we are currently underway to include our Payroll Service delivery from SAP SuccessFactors to a vendor-consolidated / integrated approach.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of a global team, proactively participating in the design, development and delivery of global initiatives and leading on HR operational efficiency and remain “moments that matter” in the employee experience for all countries in the region by working closely with global, regional and country HR and Business leads.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
- Lead APAC HR Shared Services, encompassing employee centers, payroll, benefits, and HR operations support.
- Develop and implement the HR Shared Services strategy aligned with the global HRSS Strategy and APAC HR and business goals.
- Partner with HR Clouds (= Centre of Excellence around a) Talent-Acquisition, b) Talent / Learning & Development, c) Total Rewards and d) HR-Tech), HR Business Partners (HRBP) on various levels (local/regional/global) and business stakeholders to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of HR services.
Team Management and Development
- Manage a diverse team of HR Shared Services professionals, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of “Player & Learner”, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the HR Shared Services team.
- Establish clear KPIs and performance metrics for the HR Shared Services team and ensure consistent delivery against these metrics.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with other HR functions (HRBP, HR Clouds etc.) to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including business leaders, finance, IT, and legal departments, to drive effective service delivery and support business objectives.
Process and Technology Optimization
- Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in HR service delivery.
- Evaluate, select, and manage HR technology platforms, including HRIS, payroll systems, benefits administration systems, and self-service portals.
- Detect and evaluate any local / regional needs for HR-Tech – including enhancements of SAP SF-EC, payroll systems, benefits administration systems, self-service portals (ServiceNow as HR Service Delivery system being already on our roadmap). This happens in close collaboration with the Regional HR-Tech Lead for APAC.
- Drive innovation and optimization through technology, and continuous improvement provide and enhance employee experiences.
- Support and regionally (co)-lead any HR Shared Services / HR Tech project as per Regional and/or Global HR strategy and roadmap.
Service Delivery and Quality
- Ensure the timely, accurate, and efficient delivery of HR services, including payroll, Time & Attendance, benefits administration, employee data management, HR policy enforcement, statutory / governmental reporting, internal & external audits and etc.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex HR service issues and work to resolve them in a timely and customer-focused manner.
- Regularly assess and improve service delivery to meet or exceed internal and external customer expectations.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure that HR shared services operations comply with local, regional, and global regulations, policies, and standards.
- Manage risk by ensuring HR data privacy and security standards are met and that HR operations are compliant with applicable labor laws and regulations.
Qualification & Requirements
- University degree or equivalent in HR, Finance (MBA, Diploma, BA, etc.)
- 8-10 years of work experience across APAC region within the field of payroll and HR Shared Services, preferably in an international matrix environment
- 5+ years of leadership experience
- High proficiency in modern HRSS & payroll/time tech solutions (e.g. SAP SuccessFactors)
- Experienced stakeholder management of senior business and HR leaders
- Experienced and skilled in project management
- Transformation/implementation experience desired
- Demonstrated experience leading and influencing others, including those that are not direct or indirect reports
- Demonstrated financial analysis/modelling and root cause problem solving skills for both complex and simple problems
- Innovative and strategic thinker
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong business partnerships through transparency of thought and humility
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing a performing, effective, and efficient team as well as identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills
- Understand the current high-level technology environment of cloud-based Human Resources and Payroll systems, and third-party provider opportunities
- Experience of working in a multinational and multi-cultural organization across multiple lines of business/divisions while balancing requirements from global to regional or local need
- Ability to collaborate & partner in a complex global environment
- A team player, enthusiastic & curious.
- Business fluent language skills in English and ideally Chinese or other languages of the region are a must.
- The role can be based in several APAC locations with frequent travel around the region as priorities dictate.

- You have a well-developed intercultural understanding and are seasoned in building and maintaining productive partnerships across borders and functions.
- As some of your stakeholders are working in different time zones you understand that the best time to meet is not always 9-6.
