Head of Shared Services – APAC: Lead global finance hub, oversee AP/AR/GL/FA, audits, compliance, automation.

A multinational organisation is seeking a Head of Shared Services to lead its APAC hub. This senior role will oversee accounting operations across multiple regions, ensuring standardisation, compliance, and efficiency in support of global business objectives. The remit covers accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, general & administrative expenses, general ledger, and statutory audits. The position reports to the Global Controller and plays a critical role in aligning regional operations with global finance strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a global shared services strategy, ensuring APAC operations are fully integrated with worldwide finance processes.
  • Standardise and centralise accounting practices across regions to deliver consistency, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee transactional accounting functions (AP, AR, FA, G&A, GL) and ensure compliance with IFRS, SOX, US GAAP, and local statutory requirements.
  • Act as lead contact for APAC audits, while coordinating with global audit teams to ensure readiness and alignment.
  • Build and lead a high‑performing team, fostering accountability, inclusivity, and career development.
  • Collaborate with global finance, procurement, IT, treasury, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and effective communication across regions.
  • Monitor and report on global KPIs, including DSO reduction, cash application accuracy, and audit performance metrics.
  • Support global initiatives such as process harmonisation, risk mitigation, and lifecycle management of financial data across multiple entities.

Qualification & Requirements

  • 15+ years of professional accounting experience, including at least 5 years in shared services leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS, internal controls, and compliance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proven experience managing large teams and complex, multi‑country operations.
  • Background in both public accounting and corporate accounting.
  • Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, with the ability to balance operational oversight and strategic leadership.
  • Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management and change leadership skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, global environment with competing priorities.
