Description

As the Head of Legal & Compliance Shared Services US for the Nemetschek Group, you’ll play a crucial role in our US operations while working closely with our global headquarters in Munich, Germany to ensure consistent legal and compliance strategies across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guidance: Provide strong guidance to the US based cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Develop and implement effective legal and compliance strategies, policies, and procedures in line with Nemetschek Group policies, guidelines and strategies to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess legal and compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Monitor changes in laws and regulations, and proactively adapt policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Contract Management: Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and review of key contracts and further legal documents of various kind, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and protecting the organization’s interests.
  • Corporate Governance: Ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements, including board meetings, shareholder communications, and regulatory filings.
  • Employee Relations: Oversee internal investigations, manage legal disputes and partner with the People team when working through challenging employee situations; working closely with external counsel when necessary. Work with cross functional teams to support existing policies and the creation of new policies that impact employees (employee handbook, sales incentive etc).
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver legal and compliance training programs to enhance awareness and understanding across the organization.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as senior management, business units, and external partners, to provide legal and compliance advice and support on various initiatives.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Manage the legal and compliance budget for Legal & Compliance Shared Services US, allocate resources effectively, and ensure optimal utilization of available tools and technologies.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in California and Texas and in good standing.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in legal and compliance roles, with a focus on regulatory compliance and corporate governance. At least three (3) years of in-house corporate counsel experience.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, such as Californian Labor Law, US IP & contract & liability law, data privacy laws
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong self-managing and organizational skills as well as team-oriented, pragmatic, hands-on and solution-oriented working style
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Outstanding communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English, additional language skills in German are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel (across US or to Europe) regularly

  • Experience in supporting enterprise clients and contracts
  • Experience from a global mid-/large cap with global, multi-jurisdictions presence and ideally with interactions both in a one-tier and two-tier system environment
