Head of Finance Shared Services Manager

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Execution

  • Lead the Finance Shared Services division and support the management team to ensure the achievement of the shared service mandate.
  • Determine the strategy, approach, roles and responsibilities and tools used to engage with the customers of shared service and support its operations.
  • Ensure success through the design and implementation of strategic policies in support of the shared service goals and objectives;
  • Ensure that the shared service function meets all operational and financial performance targets and obligations.
  • Manage the ongoing development of a clearly defined catalogue of services for shared service;
  • Manage the development of clearly defined service delivery targets for shared services.
  • Conduct performance assessments, benchmarking, and gap analysis to continuously improve the performance of the shared service.
  • Develop and review workforce capacity plan with the Service Management team and ensure appropriately skilled resources are scheduled to meet requirements.
  • Ensure that team delivers work within policy, procedure, and compliance protocols; Calculate and forecast the financial requirements for the shared service and develop a budget in line with set requirements.
  • Oversee the management of shared service functional/operational budgets.
  • Ensure that auditors (internal and external) are provided with the required information on any queries/requests in the normal course of conducting reviews.
  • Oversee the effective management of risk across the shared services;
  • Direct creation of the overall continuous improvement plan and approach and ensure successful delivery in accordance with the plan.
  • Work with the Finance Projects and Systems function to successfully deploy further automation efficiencies.
  • Further develop the shared service governance structures, as required

Leadership

  • Oversee talent management for direct reports in terms of recruitment, retention, and development.
  • Oversee the performance management and development of all shared service staff.
  • Ensure adherence to shared service performance management requirements, ensuring continuous performance feedback to and development of direct reports.
  • Ensure that all staff are motivated, developed, and appraised so that individual and collective performance meets the needs of the customers. Stakeholder Relationships
  • Develop a culture of excellence for the shared service to ensure its success in providing and developing services to various business units;
  • Oversee continuous communication with all business units, to ensure contractual and actual service levels are clearly understood and areas for remediation are known and agreed;
  • Maintain 3rd party relationships with external customers/suppliers as may be required;
  • Maintain internal and external audit relationships;
  • Embed a strong and transparent governance framework, working with the business units across the group.

Qualification & Requirements

Qualifications And Experience

  • CA (SA) is preferable
  • 5 – 7 years experience in a Senior Finance leadership role
  • Experience managing a service delivery-orientated team
  • Strong working knowledge of finance processes
  • Experience in cost management and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of service and operations management
  • Experience in project management and delivery
