Description

We are now seeking an experienced and strategic Global Head of Finance in India to build and lead our local finance function and ensure compliance, efficiency, and risk management across our global footprint. Our Finance function is currently outsourced, and a key responsibility of the role will be to build a local in-house team to support the insourcing of the function as well as migrating the Finance systems onto our new Workday-centered ERP.

The Head of Finance – India will be responsible for building and managing the local finance operations and leading the setup, transition, and ongoing management of the Shared Services Center (SSC) in India for Finance. This leadership role requires a blend of strategic vision and operational expertise to oversee finance functions both locally and within the SSC, ensuring alignment with global financial standards, efficiency, and robust governance.

Key Responsibilities

Local Finance Operations Management:

  • Build and oversee day-to-day financial operations in India and lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Lead the finance team responsible for accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, tax filings, and statutory reporting.
  • Ensure local compliance with Indian accounting standards (IND-AS), tax regulations, and other statutory requirements.
  • Manage internal and external audit processes, ensuring transparency and effective audit compliance.
  • Contribute to and oversee the implementation of Workday for Finance for India and manage the migration of books and records to the target setup.

Shared Services Center (SSC) Setup & Transition:

  • Lead the end-to-end setup of the SSC in India, including designing the operating model, staffing, processes, and technology infrastructure.
  • Define and implement efficient, scalable processes for finance and accounting shared services (AP, AR, GL, payroll, financial reporting, etc.).
  • Manage the transition of finance functions to the SSC, working closely with global teams to ensure smooth migration and minimal disruption.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and mentor both the local finance team and SSC staff, ensuring high levels of engagement, productivity, and performance.
  • Foster a collaborative, results-driven work culture and ensure that both the local finance team and SSC work seamlessly with cross-functional departments such as HR, IT, and Operations.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the global finance leadership to align the SSC setup and local finance operations with the organization’s global financial strategy.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CA) is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 12+ years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of Finance Information Systems and experience in migrations.
  • Proven experience in setting up and managing a Shared Services Center (SSC) in India, ideally in a multinational environment.
  • Strong understanding of Indian accounting standards (IND-AS) and financial regulations, tax laws, and global financial standards (IFRS, US GAAP).
  • English fluent
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in managing cross-functional teams, including leading finance operations and shared services.
  • Technology: Experience with Workday ERP systems is a must.
