Description
The Shared Services Accounting (Record to Report) Global Process Owner is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end accounting process across regions within the Shared Service Centers (SSCs) for ADAMA. This role is key in ensuring alignment and standardization of accounting operations, maintaining adherence to global accounting policies (such as IFRS, GAAP), and facilitating efficient vendor management procedures. The position also guides staff working on day-to-day accounting tasks in the SSCs, contributing to the consistency and accuracy of financial data and reporting. This role reports to the Head of Shared Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Process & Policy Standardization: Develop and implement best-practice accounting processes and procedures. Collaborate with the global Head of Accounting to optimize and standardize policies across regions
- Collaboration with Corporate Accounting: Work with the corporate team to align policies and procedures for general ledger accounting globally
- Automation & Technology: Work with IT to adopt technologies that automate journal entries, reconciliations, and the close process
- Work closely with Regional Head of Controlling to facilitate and constantly improve processes related to
- Quarterly Close Management: timely and accurate quarterly closing operations, ensuring consistency with ADAMA standards
- Compliance & Reporting: statutory compliance and accurate legal reporting in all regions
- Accurate Accounting Entries: all financial transactions are correctly recorded for each business unit and legal entity
- Accruals & Adjustments: proper accounting of accruals, provisions, and adjustments each period
- Ledger & Chart of Accounts: setup of new general ledger accounts and ensure standard chart of accounts is used globally
- Balance Sheet Reviews: regular reviews of balance sheet accounts for accuracy
- Team Development: Onboard accounting teams in each SSC location with regional and global leads. Provide regular process training and support
Qualification & Requirements
- Experience: 5-10 years of experience in managing accounting processes within a global company. Strong knowledge of accounting including controls (e.g., SOX/ISOX) & international reporting standards (e.g. IFRS, GAAP)
- People Management: At least 2 years of experience in managing and developing teams, with a focus on driving high performance and professional growth.
- Process Improvement: Experience in working with standard methodologies (e.g., LEAN, Six Sigma) to drive continuous improvements, reducing inefficiencies and improving service delivery.
- Service Level Management: Ability to meet and exceed strict service level standards (SLAs), ensuring timely collections and minimizing overdue accounts.
- Systems Knowledge: Proven experience working with accounting systems such as SAP or other global financial systems
- Communication & Analytical Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement solutions.
Education & Certifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred
- Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant professional certifications are a plus.
