The Global Head of Markets Post-Trade Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for the end-to-end management, governance, and performance of global post-trade operations across all asset classes. The role has accountability for trade confirmation, settlement control, brokerage operations, and Standing Settlement Instruction (SSI) data management, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing throughout the trade lifecycle.

This position plays a critical role in safeguarding the firm’s operational integrity, reducing operational and settlement risk, and enabling scalable growth across Global Markets. The role partners closely with Front Office, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and external market infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Confirmation

  • Oversee global trade confirmation processes across all asset classes and regions.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant confirmation of trades, minimizing breaks and operational risk.
  • Drive automation, straight-through processing (STP), and exception reduction initiatives.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and control metrics for confirmation performance.

Settlement Controls

  • Own the global settlement control framework, including fails management, penalties, and liquidity impacts.
  • Monitor settlement efficiency and proactively manage settlement risk across markets and products.
  • Coordinate with custodians, clearing houses, agents, and internal stakeholders to resolve settlement issues.
  • Ensure strong governance, escalation, and reporting of settlement risks and incidents.

Brokerage Operations

  • Lead global brokerage operations, including trade allocations, commission processing, fee validation, and broker payments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely brokerage processing aligned with contractual terms and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage relationships with executing brokers and internal stakeholders to support efficient post-trade processing.
  • Drive transparency, cost control, and data quality in brokerage-related activities.

SSI Data Management

  • Own global SSI data management, including setup, maintenance, validation, and governance.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of SSI data across systems, counterparties, and markets.
  • Implement strong controls to prevent settlement risk arising from incorrect or outdated SSIs.
  • Lead data quality, standardization, and automation initiatives related to settlement instructions.

Processes

  • Drive post-trade transformation initiatives, including process re-engineering, automation, and technology modernization.
  • Partner with Technology to prioritize system enhancements, platform stability, and data improvements.
  • Support regulatory change initiatives impacting post-trade operations.

People & Talent

  • Lead and develop a global, multi-regional post-trade operations organization.
  • Build a strong leadership bench with clear succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, risk awareness, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization.
  • Own the post-trade operational risk and control environment, including issue management and remediation.
  • Ensure compliance with global policies, local regulations, and industry standards.
  • Lead responses to internal audits, external audits, and regulatory examinations.
  • Establish robust governance forums, management information, and escalation frameworks.

Key Stakeholders

  • Act as a senior partner to Global Markets Front Office, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Technology.
  • Represent Post-Trade Operations in senior management forums and governance committees.
  • Manage relationships with external market infrastructures and service providers.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related discipline required.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.

Role-specific Technical Competencies

  • Significant senior leadership experience in Markets Post-Trade Operations within a large, complex financial institution.
  • Demonstrated experience managing global teams and operating models across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong understanding of Global Markets products, sales models, and client lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of global market infrastructure, clearing, and settlement models.
  • Strong change management, transformation, and automation experience.
  • Ability to balance global standardization with local market and regulatory requirements.
