Description

Responsible for all aspects of financial management and reporting for the consultancy sectors. Reports into the consultancy finance director, closely supporting all sector heads within these businesses along with consultancy commercial functions and corporate services functions.

Provides leadership and direction through subordinate Managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists with the monthly production of financial reporting and review/challenge actuals and full year forecasts with business unit directors (BUDs).
  • Produces monthly management accounts including profit and loss and provision reports for submission to group finance.
  • Reviews analysis of key performance indicators including margins, profit per man, secured income, utilization and pipeline.
  • Manages and develops working capita key performance indicators (KPIs) surrounding debt, accrued income and ultimately cash.
  • Provides ad-hoc reporting and analysis for senior financial and commercial managers/directors.
  • Attends consultancy performance reviews with senior management.
  • Manages cost to employ calculations in support of project reporting and bid generation.
  • Acts as a key member of the project team driving improvements to financial reporting across the business.
  • Manages a large team (or several) of senior direct reports, demonstrating effective leadership to ensure excellence in delivery against plans, championing a continuous improvement culture throughout all activities.
  • Delivers performance management, technical development, direction and coaching.
  • Delivers reports and analysis in support of corporate finance requirements and board meetings.
  • Provides support to other finance managers across consultancy where needed.
  • Owns the budget process for the relevant sectors.
  • Reviews workbooks with project manager and top team to resolve issues before FRs complete.
  • Provides ad hoc information and analysis to BUDs (incl. workbook training, bid support and etc.).
  • Reviews unallocated staff for each sector, reporting issues and identifying risks/opportunities that may impact sector financial performance.
  • Provides monthly review of pipeline with BUD to ensure prospects, leads and target gap are accurately reported.
  • Produces monthly FR for executive summary to be completed.
  • Issues regular debtors reports and accrued income reports and ensure timely action is taken to raise invoices and work on collections.
  • Attends monthly sector board meetings as needed.
  • Advises BUDs and PMs on business process and financial issues.
  • Provides leadership to direct reports.
  • Assesses required resources and the development of an optimal structure.
  • Ensures regular one on one meetings with all key stakeholders including line manager and senior commercial and business unit leaders plus consultancy COO/CEO.
  • Ensures each staff member has in place a training plan and a development plan.
  • Leads group audit for consult.
  • Maintains, cultivates and establishes a strong collaborative network, developing partnerships with key senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Detail-minded, with an ability to interface with senior leaders internally and clients externally.
  • Able to lead but collaborate, driving growth on the business.
  • India exposure would be ideal but not a must have.
  • Professionally qualified ACA/ACCA or CIMA, with a background from an accountancy firm, ideally big 4 with international experience (or equivalent).
  • PQE (or equivalent).
  • Strong reporting and financial analysis capability.
  • Background in international accounting issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable accounting standards and appreciation of IFRS.
  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Commercial and business acumen.
  • Strong time management and deadline-orientated.
  • Collaborates well with internal and external stakeholders, building trusting and respectful relationships.
  • Demonstrates clear, concise written and verbal communication.
  • Uses own judgment to make decisions and escalate problem when necessary.
  • Adapts and reacts well to changing priorities and requirements.
