Description

To oversee the Heersink School of Medicine’s (HSOM) approach to grants award management including pre- and post- award shared services activities, grant preparation, consultation, customer service, financial and non-financial compliance with legal and institutional policies, federal and sponsor regulations, and to build, maintain and enhance cohesive and comprehensive protocols and policies. Under the guidance of the Executive Officer, oversee initiatives for the HSOM research mission including grant submissions, awards, and expenditures, as well as other required grant metrics in partnership with the executive directors for finance, operations and research administration. To attend multiple HSOM events and meetings, i.e., strategic retreats).

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR-GRANTS MANAGEMENT-HSOM

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans, manages, and oversees all grant related activities which occur along the life cycle of a grant; from grant submission to grant closeout across the HSOM.This includes designing schoolwide systems and processes for grant transfers, material transfer agreements, data use agreements, and other grant related activities.
  • Executive level oversight forthe HSOM pre-award and post-award shared services.
  • Works with and liaises with central partners (e.g., OSP) on grant related processes and systems.
  • Works with our central and department partners on special projects related to grant awards.
  • Serve as a systems designer, training specialist, and facilitator on school-wide grant related issues.
  • Works with executive directors of operations, finance, and research administration to operationalize grant management processes and procedures.
  • Works with other HSOM executive directors, central partners and department leaders to develop, implement and maintain trainings and seminars.
  • Works with the HSOM Office of Research on grant activities by creating guidelines, collecting data and initiating reports.
  • Works with executive director of research administration on the preparation of comprehensive research activities, operational reports, and educational objectives relevant to the HSOM mission.
  • Provides comprehensive advice on all aspects of grant preparation, submissions consultation, and facilitation to HSOM departments.
  • Troubleshoots administrative pre- and post-award issues including transfer of grants.
  • Develops SOPS and reporting/tracking requirements, as required.
  • Identifies highly complex problems, directs resources and aids in the negotiation between funding agency and faculty resolving conflicts, etc
  • Manages post-award administration of regulatory and grant-related agreements, submissions, supplements and other grant-related document requests.
  • Serves as liaison with HSOM departments and central partners related to lab research in handling matters involving and related to extramural research funding, including but not limited to regulatory submissions, required training, equipment acquisition, ARP, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Health, Public Administration or other related field and ten (10) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
