Global Business Service (GBS) is the shared service organization in Air Liquide. In APAC we support our business from two locations, one in Kuala Lumpur and another in Shanghai.

We’re looking for a Director of Order to Cash (O2C) for the APAC Shared Service Center will be a pivotal leadership role, accountable for the end-to-end O2C process across the APAC region, operating out of the Kuala Lumpur SSC. This role requires a visionary leader with deep O2C expertise to drive process standardization, efficiency, and continuous improvement across a geographically dispersed team, specifically managing direct teams in both Kuala Lumpur and Shanghai. The Director will ensure timely, accurate, and compliant invoicing, credit management, collections, and cash application to optimize working capital and enhance customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Develop and execute the regional O2C strategy, aligning it with global finance objectives and the GBS service delivery model.
  • Establish and enforce a robust governance framework, ensuring adherence to global process standards, company policies, and statutory compliance across all APAC countries.
  • Define, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) , driving accountability for results such as Overdue percentage reduction, credit memos reductions, aged debt, and cash application accuracy.

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement

  • Oversee the end-to-end O2C process, including: Customer Master Data, Credit Management, Billing and Invoicing, Collections and Accounts Receivable (AR), Cash Application, and Dispute Management.
  • Champion continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives (e.g., Robotics Process Automation (RPA), Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance process efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the APAC O2C function.
  • Drive process harmonization and standardization across all scoped markets, collaborating with local business units, Finance GPO to implement global best practices.

People & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing and engaged team across the Kuala Lumpur/Shanghai locations, fostering a culture of ownership, operational excellence, and customer service.
  • Manage the operational planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and training needs for the multi-site O2C team.
  • Ensure effective cross-training and knowledge transfer between the Kuala Lumpur/ Shanghai teams to build resilience and deep regional expertise.
  • Oversee performance management, talent development, and succession planning for the regional O2C organization.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

  • Act as the primary point of contact for O2C service delivery for APAC business leadership, local CFOs, and global process owners.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Commercial, and Local Finance teams across APAC to resolve complex issues, improve upstream process efficiency, and manage commercial disputes.
  • Liaise with internal and external audit functions, ensuring strong internal controls and compliance.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant experience in Finance/Accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing the end-to-end Order to Cash process.
  • Proven experience managing O2C operations within a Shared Service Center or Global Business Services environment, specifically supporting the APAC region.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing geographically dispersed teams, with direct experience leading teams in Kuala Lumpur and remote locations.
  • Deep expertise in O2C best practices, process re-engineering, and the implementation of relevant technologies (e.g., ERP systems like Oracle/Microsoft Dynamics 365, collection tools, cash application automation).
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of working capital management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
