Description
As the Directory of Technology you will serve as the primary strategic visionary for our strategic initiatives across Enterprise IT at Finastra. You will bridge the gap between complex business strategy and high-performance technical execution.
In this role, you are the steward of efficiency and innovation.
A key initial focus area will be to define a fit to purpose modern application stack aligned to Finastra’s business, engineering and enterprise needs by implementing an application rationalization program to streamline the application portfolio to eliminate redundancy.
Simultaneously, you will architect the AI-enabled enterprise, designing the frameworks that integrate Generative AI, Machine Learning & LLMs into our streamlined, scalable application suite.
Key Responsibilities
- Application Rationalization & Lifecycle Management: Build and deploy an evaluation process of our global application portfolio. Identify redundant systems across business units, drive decommissioning of legacy debt, and consolidate platforms to leverage enterprise scale and reduce TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
- “Fit to Purpose” Validation: Partner with Business Unit leaders to ensure application stacks are optimized for their specific needs while adhering to global enterprise standards.
- AI Implementation & Orchestration: Design and drive the integration of LLMs and ML workflows. Build the shared AI services (foundational models, vector stores, and prompt libraries) that all business units can leverage to prevent “AI silos.” Focus on enterprise level AI Chatbot for employee productivity.
- Balancing the speed of AI experimentation with the stability of a $2B regulated entity.
- Partner with your peers and senior CTO leadership to drive strategic priorities across enterprise IT.
- Architectural Governance & Scale: Establish “Golden Paths” for development that allow BUs to move fast while ensuring the company benefits from centralised procurement, security, and data standards.
- Software Asset Management. Assist the team in building and deploying an enterprise grade solution for software asset management & hardware asset management
- Modernization & Migration: Lead the transition from fragmented, unit-specific monoliths to a unified, cloud-native architecture that supports high-volume fintech transactions.
- Conduct “Build vs. Buy” analyses that prioritise enterprise-wide scalability over niche, isolated solutions.
Qualification & Requirements
- 15+ years in software engineering and architecture, with a proven track record of managing large-scale application portfolios in a multi-divisional $1B+ organisation.
- Bachelors in Engineering. Masters a plus
- Portfolio Strategy: Expert-level experience in application rationalisation frameworks (e.g., TIME model: Tolerate, Invest, Migrate, Eliminate).
- AI/ML Proficiency: Hands-on experience architecting and deploying solutions systems/solutions enabling productivity
- Financial Acumen: Ability to build business cases for rationalisation, demonstrating clear ROI and cost savings to the CIO and CFO.
- Influence & Diplomacy: Exceptional ability to navigate business unit’s needs & enterprise needs to achieve a unified enterprise vision.
