Description
The Director of Special Projects will lead and manage high-impact, cross-functional initiatives. This role is essential in driving innovation, improving operational efficiency, and fostering collaboration across departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, project management expertise, and a proven track record of successfully executing complex projects from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Department Leadership
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of special projects that may include Post-merger Integrations, process improvements initiatives, and strategic partnerships
- Serve in interim departmental leadership roles over shared services departments during periods of transformation or transition
- Oversee high-priority, non-routine projects as directed by the CEO and COO of the organization
- Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables
- Ability to lead and manage 3rd party vendors and internal teams
- Support major transformational initiatives such as workflow standardization and operating model implementations
Strategy Development and Analytics
- Collect and analyze data to inform project decisions and track performance
- Utilize Excel, the Tableau Suite, and other analytical tools to analyze and visualize data in support of C-suite decision-making
- Conduct research and analysis of complex analytical questions, develop recommendations, and implement initiatives
- Facilitate and develop Board and Executive level communications
Process Improvement
- Comfortable driving standardization, efficiency and scalable processes through a systematic design process (e.g. Lean Six Sigma or similar methodology)
- Ability to mentor and teach team members about developing standards and SOPs for continued scaling
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through the use of automation and technology where appropriate
Qualification & Requirements
- Bachelors Degree, required. MBA, MHA or related Masters, preferred.
- At least five years related experience. Management consulting experience a plus.
- Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills.
- Excellent judgment and ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.
- The ability to contribute in a team environment and to provide excellent customer service while maintaining a positive attitude.
- The ability to work independently, meet internal and external deadlines and produce a consistently high-quality product.
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
- Experience with tools like Asana, Smartsheet, Monday.com, or similar for project tracking.
- A curious mindset, strong attention to detail, and a bias toward action.
