ASSA ABLOY Americas is recruiting a Director of Shared Services. This position oversees Accounts Payable, and Payroll for North America. The teams are based in New Haven, Connecticut and reports to a Senior Director or Accounting and Finance.

As the process owner for accounts payable, you are responsible for setting the strategic direction for the process within the Americas finance organization. This includes ensuring consistent service delivery, ensuring all processes are compliant and that ongoing improvements to the process are prioritized and meet corporate objectives. Additionally, you will work with the procurement organization to implement changes within the requisition, PO, and vendor master process to ensure compliance to our control environment while maintaining (and/or increasing) the accuracy of reporting.

This person will be responsible for the overall “customer experience” for internal business partners. Key performance indicators and leadership directives will guide your decisions to drive a culture of continuous improvement across both retained teams and third-party provider relationships. Exceptional communication skills are essential for success in this role, as the Director will regularly engage with leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Shared Services teams responsible for:
  • Accounts Payable: Ensure timely and accurate processing, vendor compliance, and continuous process improvement.
  • Payroll: Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and employee satisfaction.
  • Manage department staff and organize work processes, methods and procedures for processing accounts payable transactions.
  • Assess current state capabilities (process, data and technology) and map the gaps between the current state capabilities an d the desired future state.
  • Align the vision and roadmap with systems changes and roadmaps being driven by other internal groups in support of process optimization and new capabilities.
  • Provide guidance on organizations, policies and the way the shared service group will deliver against their transactional and strategic responsibilities in the future based on the overall goals of the organization.
  • Influence and gain alignment from key stakeholders around a business case for change and work with existing process owners to plan and execute against the established roadmap.
  • Review process improvement opportunities across. Work with the VP Finance, prioritize opportunities to optimize resources.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance operations.
  • Prior experience managing a shared service center in a large corporate environment.
  • Experience with JD Edwards is highly desired.
  • Management experience in a broad range of operational finance roles.
  • Strong understanding of and experience with finance systems.
  • Extensive experience developing and leading teams.
  • Strong, demonstrated program and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management skills. Must be able to communicate and present ideas/issues to the executive finance team.
  • Proven ability to inspire others through characteristics of a growth mindset (adaptability, continuous learning, and transparency).
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Approximate percent of time required to travel: less than 15%
