The Director of Data Operations leads all enterprise data lifecycle activities, governance functions, and operational excellence initiatives across hybrid data platforms. This leader oversees data ingestion, transformation, quality, metadata management, and data delivery pipelines supporting mission-critical analytics, reporting, and compliance. This position ensures data integrity, reliability, security, and availability across global operations.

Director of Data Operations and Shared Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead data operations strategy, governance, and quality initiatives.
  • Oversee data engineering, metadata management, and lifecycle operations.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of enterprise data pipelines.
  • Lead teams responsible for ETL pipelines, data quality, lineage, and audit readiness.
  • Manage data reliability, monitoring, incident response, and service-level commitments.
  • Maintain compliance with GxP, ISO 27001, and data security frameworks.
  • Partner with architecture, engineering, SRE, and security teams.
  • Develop and maintain data governance frameworks and operational standards.
  • Oversee documentation, lineage tracking, and metadata systems.
  • Support disaster recovery, resilience, and high-availability data operations.
  • Lead continuous improvement, cost optimization, and automation initiatives.

Qualification & Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in data operations, engineering, or analytics
  • 5+ years of leadership experience overseeing technical teams
  • Strong knowledge of data management, governance, and quality frameworks
  • Experience with cloud data ecosystems, ETL/ELT pipelines, metadata systems
  • Experience with compliance and regulatory data standards
  • Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Fully fluent in English required

Preferred Certification

  • DAMA CDMP
  • Azure Data Engineer Associate
  • AWS Data Analytics Specialty
  • SnowPro Core / Advanced Architect
  • ITIL 4 Foundation
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification

Additional  Skills

  • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse, or Redshift
  • Familiarity with data observability platforms
  • Experience implementing enterprise data catalogs or MDM
  • Experience building operational scorecards and KPIs
  • Experience supporting AI/ML-related data pipeline requirements
