Reporting to the VP of Process Excellence, you will own the global Record to Report (R2R) process with full accountability for its overall strategy, end-to-end process design and transformation road-map – across functional, geographic, and business units, ensuring standardization, efficiency, and effective tracking of KPIs.
In addition, you will work closely with Group Finance Governance to drive improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness within our control environment, and with the Change and Communication team to influence culture change (for process success and adoption) and stakeholder engagement.
Curious and committed to continuous improvement, this high-profile role is a crucial element of our desire to transform; remove manual processes, optimize both user and customer experiences and offer agile delivery of our services in response to business requirements via our offshore business service center (BSC).
Key Responsibilities
- Ways of Working: Understanding IHG’s current end-to-end process landscape, documenting existing ways of working whilst identifying opportunity areas to promote best practice and ‘ESSA’. Knowledge of process variations and ability to explain scenarios.
- Improvement Exploration: Supporting the investigation and viability of process improvement ideas, understanding the context, challenges, and potential options for change / future-state. Identifying capability shortfalls that need to be addressed to deliver process, technology and organisational improvements and fill these gaps.
- Process Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of current operational processes and ways of working, including who does what and how long it takes, and document it appropriately.
- Operational Establishment: Partnering with business & operational leaders on strategic change initiatives, leading on transition planning, colleague knowledge acquisition and transfer.
- Operational Performance: Monitoring performance using KPI’s & metrics driving continuous improvement, efficiency, and effectiveness. Managing the delivery of process change initiatives, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams from across the process excellence capability and other functions.
- Future Strategy: Establishing a vision and strategic direction for future processes, including horizon scanning for emerging technologies and potential application to IHG, with scalability to support growth.
- Change Support: Using experience and network to support the transition to new working practices, either with current role holders in current locations or with new role holders in new locations.
Process Governance:
- Working with the internal Group Finance Governance, to ensure that all processes include adequate and well documented controls to satisfy external and internal compliance requirements.
- Lead governance forums to cover design authority, process standards consultative groups and process performance.
- Drive targeted change and communications that educate business users outside of Global Finance Procurement and Strategy (GFPS) on the end-to-end process and incentivize them to make improvement suggestions.
Qualification & Requirements
Whilst we love experience, mindset is of equal importance. We’re looking for someone who is committed with a natural ability to operate effectively in a fast moving, global environment.
- Education – Bachelor’s degree, Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACA or equivalent)
- Lean Six Sigma practitioner (preferable but not essential).
Critical Expertise & Experience
- A proven track record in an R2R GPO role ideally from a FTSE 250 business with strong knowledge and hands on functional experience in R2R processes (preferable but not essential).
- In depth knowledge and understanding of the mechanics in the R2R process stream and how these fit into the end-to-end financial process environment.
- Understanding of the customer journey and has experience in transforming R2R processes.
- Experience of working with or in a captive shared services environment, operating in an offshore location.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience of working within SOX or similar regulatory environment.
- Manages large and complex projects and ensures changes are embedded into business-as-usual process.
- The ability to build strong working relations with stakeholders, utilizing your influencing skills along with your change leadership expertise.
- Delegates effectively and utilizes efficient work practices to ensure work is performed at the appropriate level.
