Description

DIRECTOR, FINANCE AND OPERATIONS, Resource Development and Alumni Association, working with the Executive Director of Finance and Operations (F&O), to oversee and administer a $35M operational budget for Resource Development (RD).

Director, Finance and Operations

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide functional back-up to the Alumni Association’s $19M operational budget;
  • Prepare, analyze and present financial information including annual budgets and quarterly reporting to the MIT Budget Office;
  • Direct the work of the RD finance staff;
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial activities including annual budgets and expenses, monthly activity and audit reconciliations, and special projects;
  • Act as the principal troubleshooter for RD staff, triaging financial issues, interpreting MIT accounting policies, and initiating action;
  • And serve as primary liaison with the central service providers.

Qualification & Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Minimum seven years of financial management experience;
  • Two years supervising staff, setting goals, and managing performance and budgets; robust communication, analysis, problem-solving, and project management skills;
  • Ability to present financial data clearly for audiences at all levels, both in writing and verbally;
  • Proven leadership, diplomatic, and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across, and down multiple areas;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced, complex environment and perform work with attention to detail and time sensitivity;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information and exercise a high level of discretion;
  • Experience with SAP, Microsoft Office, BrioQuery or other reporting tools;
  • And expertise in Microsoft Excel.

PREFERRED:

  • Advanced degree and MIT experience with financial systems.
