Description
Our Director, EMEA Group Close and Reporting will be involved in the close, accounting and reporting activities of the organization’s EMEA Region. Responsibilities include close activities, analysis of the regional balance sheet, coordination with regional accounting, business finance, and shared services organizations, and ensuring timeliness, completeness and accuracy associated with regional general ledger activities. The ideal candidate is a proven leader that has a strong public accounting background, experience with a large global matrix organization, and the ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees the elements of the close, accounting and reporting activities of the EMEA Region which includes coordinating with Accounting and Business Finance teams throughout the region.
- Leads the preparation of the regional balance sheet and associated analysis by business segment.
- Responsible for regional aggregation and review of key global financial reporting deliverables.
- Ensures proper support (including implementation and/or training) related to technical accounting and global accounting policy matters for the region.
- Oversees the monitoring and review of elements of the monthly close and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and consistency within the region.
- Responsible for the development and performance management of team members.
- Manages teams’ projects and deliverables to ensure work accuracy and departmental deadlines are met.
- Monitoring of applicable activities performed in the shared services organization.
Qualification & Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a college or university in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
- Requires hands on experience of at least seven years, which includes at least three years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Must also have public accounting or relevant experience and work with global companies with multinational operations.
- Experience working in a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus.
- ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified is required.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous information to top management.
- Highly developed written, oral, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and interact effectively with top management, employees, representatives of federal and state governments, and external auditors.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and prepare clear, concise financial reports.
- Must have ability to convey complex financial issues to nonfinancial users.
- Fluency in English. Other languages are a plus
Financial Knowledge
- Broad, in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial
- Accounting Standards (FASB), theories, & practices.
- Demonstrated experience & knowledge of financial issues & economic impact beyond technical knowledge.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles.
- Ability to analyze the most complex business/financial data and develop innovative solutions.
- Ability to forecast and prepare budgets.
- Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports. Advanced understanding of accounting and bookkeeping concepts.
- Develops and administers accounting practices to ensure optimum client satisfaction while guaranteeing CBRE financial interests are protected.
Other Skills and/or Abilities
- Strong computer skills, including specific knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Broad experience with large financial systems such as PeopleSoft, One Stream, etc. is desired. Knowledge of facilities management and real estate service industry and terminology is helpful.
- External and internal audit/SOX compliance.
- Overall understanding and experience in application of GAAP and SEC financial reporting requirements, particularly ASC 605, including financial statements and financial statement footnotes.
- Self-motivated, strong work ethic and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including the ability to research and simplify complex situations.
- Ability to interface with all levels of the organization to collect information and drive resolution
- Must be detail-oriented, have a proactive approach and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Must be able to effectively manage and prioritize critical deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
