As a key force behind Ciena’s transformation into a digitally enabled, workflow‑driven enterprise, this role shapes how Supply Chain operates at scale. The Director, Supply Chain Process & Enablement defines the architecture, orchestration, and capabilities that elevate process excellence, unlock automation, and ready the organization for intelligent, AI‑enabled operations. This is a high‑impact opportunity to influence Ciena’s global operating model, partnering across Sales, IT, Finance, Services, Customer Operations, and the Enterprise Transformation Office to build a modern, future‑ready Supply Chain ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and governance of end‑to‑end Supply Chain process architecture, including Tier 1–4 process maps, business rules, and standards
- Drive a shift to process‑centric execution by establishing scalable workflows designed for automation and cross‑functional consistency
- Define the Supply Chain capability roadmap aligned to enterprise transformation priorities and digital strategy
- Direct the development and deployment of enterprise workflows spanning Order Management, Planning, Procurement, Fulfillment, Logistics, and Service Supply Chain
- Partner closely with IT to align process requirements with digital capabilities, including workflow platforms, planning systems, and enterprise architecture
- Establish process‑performance metrics and cost‑to‑serve frameworks that inform decision‑making and drive operational efficiency
- Champion organizational readiness, enabling teams to adopt workflow automation, continuous improvement, and process‑centric ways of working
Qualification & Requirements
Must haves
- 10+ years of experience in process transformation, shared services, Global Business Services (GBS), workflow automation, or digital capability enablement (+)
- Proven success leading enterprise‑wide or cross‑functional transformation initiatives
- Strong expertise in process design, workflow governance, and operating model transformation
- Direct experience partnering with IT on digital platforms, business‑rule management, or workflow/BPM technologies (e.g., Pega, ServiceNow, Appian)
- Experience with enterprise toolsets such as Kinaxis (supply chain planning) or similar platforms
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, with familiarity in cost‑to‑serve or financial performance metrics
- Exceptional communication and influence skills to engage executives, technical teams, and cross‑functional stakeholders
Nice to haves
- Experience in shared‑services, GBS, supply chain operations, finance operations, or operational excellence roles
- Exposure to ERP implementations, clean‑core strategies, or enterprise architecture frameworks
- Background in telecommunications, high‑tech manufacturing, or complex enterprise environments
- Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent)
- Experience designing AI‑ready workflows or applying AI‑based decisioning principles
- Knowledge of workflow observability, business‑rule externalization, or process‑layer orchestration
- Familiarity with cost‑optimization initiatives across global operations
