Description

We’re seeking a Director, Claims Innovation, who will work in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders across the organization to modernize GEICO Claims across technology, process and procedure.

Location: Remote, or available office with travel 30% +

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities: This position will have primary oversight of innovation within claims shared services (first notice of loss, subrogation, centralized claims units, fraud, coverage and liability, emergency roadside services, and glass).

  • Innovation Strategy & Execution:
    • Develop and implement a forward-looking innovation roadmap for claims shared services.
    • Identify emerging technologies (both internal and external) and assess their applicability to claims shared services processes.
  • Strategic, Cross-Functional Leadership:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, AI, R&D, Data Science, Business Line, and Executive teams) to develop and implement claims innovation strategies.
    • Lead initiatives spanning multiple claims functions to drive transformation and innovation.
  • Presentation & Communication: Deliver actionable solutions that translate these strategies through clear and impactful presentations for the business to implement.
  • Advisory Role: Guide stakeholders on the interpretation, implications and projected outcomes of proposed strategies or solutions.
  • Program Management: Design, implement, and manage pilot programs, POCs, or A/B testing to evaluate new products/features, with defined success and expansion criteria.
  • Workflow Optimization: Analyze and enhance existing claims workflows for greater efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Innovation: Lead workshops, ideation sessions, or design sprints to uncover creative solutions and innovative best practices to business problems.
  • Cultural and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Advocacy: Foster a culture of innovation, agility, continuous improvement, diversity and inclusion.
  • Trend Adoption: Keep abreast of industry, market and company trends and champion innovative claims processing approaches, techniques and capabilities.

Qualification & Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 8 – 10 + years of leadership experience in Insurance or Insurtech with at least 5 years of leadership in Claims Shared Services or similar roles in property and casualty insurance.
  • Proven success driving claims innovation or transformation in a comparable organization or as a vendor to similar companies
  • Accomplished at mentoring and developing highly engaged, high performing teams and balancing retention with attracting new talent to identify, hire, inspire, and scale a world-class team.
  • DEI champion who thinks about diversity, equity and inclusion in all that they do, embedding it in programs and work.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to clearly and effectively articulate a common strategic vision both internally to the organization and externally to the broader industry.
  • Expert at working across multiple functions and business units in collaboration with leadership across the organization to achieve goals.
  • Ability to identify and leverage evolving technologies for business opportunities.
