Description

As the Director Accounting, Shared Services you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management, and meeting KPI’s with focus on Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable (including the Corporate Card Program and Concur platform) and Payroll functions. In this role, you will ensure an appropriate control environment and oversight of various cash flow results while driving operational efficiency across all responsible areas, strengthening process, the control environment and providing ongoing leadership and functional oversight.

Activities include, but are not limited to, creating, and executing a clear strategy for the Shared Services activities that delivers high quality, effective services to all external and internal customers. Direct the overall performance of services and ensure accountabilities for the quality, integrity, and accuracy of the services provided.

This position will collaborate on a regular basis with various cross functional teams (i.e., sales operations, human resources, benefits, purchasing, receiving, strategic sourcing, etc.).

Key Responsibilities

  • Nurture talent, build and maintain capability and engage in succession planning of the Shared Services staff with a clear focus on performing professionally, ethically and delivering excellent customer centric outcomes.
  • Evaluate and respond effectively to highly sensitive and contentious issues to ensure that financial, reputational, and business risks are minimized.
  • Provide appropriate and sound advice, recommendations, analysis, and expert commentary to support informed executive decision-making and planning.
  • Achieve a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and excellence in customer service, performance, and safety across a diverse portfolio of activities and services, and a substantial and diverse workforce.
  • People leadership: motivating, influencing, and empowering a best in class shared services unit.
  • Position the department to sustain high performance through a high-growth period, changing circumstances such as process changes, system upgrades, or the integration of an acquisition.
  • Lead the shared service integration activities associated with any acquisitions.
  • Establish goals and monitor key performance metrics to measure the quality and efficiency of the functional processes.
  • Ensure financial processes follow company policies and procedures, including Sarbanes Oxley.
  • Collaborate with the leadership across the organization to achieve the company’s goals including bringing insights and ideas to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the business.
  • Standardize and document financial processes and procedures, building out controls and applying best practices to ensure effective department workflows within a finance team.
  • Continually look at ways to improve process effectiveness and efficiency, while maintaining anticipated results.
  • Encourage the development of associates, nurturing continued innovative thinking, process improvement, and self-development.
  • Lead cross functional projects to support corporate strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare/review journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred Major: accounting, business administration, finance, or related field.)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting or related field
  • Experience with leadership roles and display problem-solving capabilities along with process improvement efforts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with employees and vendors
