Description
Health Shared Services (HSS) is seeking a senior executive leader to serve as Corporate Shared Services (CSS) Executive Lead, providing strategic oversight and system-wide leadership for core corporate services across Alberta’s health system.
Reporting to the CEO, this role serves as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team, driving fiscal responsibility, risk and compliance, and long-term sustainability.
This provincial position can be located anywhere within Alberta.

Key Responsibilities
Serving as a trusted advisor, the CSS Lead provides vision and strategic leadership for the integration and delivery of shared corporate services that enable high-quality care for Albertans including capital management, facilities management, supply management, contracting and procurement, performance management, finance services (e.g., accounts payable), financial management and reporting, and insurance and debt.
With enterprise-wide influence, the role advances system priorities, strengthens organizational resilience, and drives consistent standards and service excellence across Provincial Health Agencies (PHAs), Provincial Health Corporations (PHCs), and key partners.
As a collaborative and forward-looking leader, the CSS Executive Lead modernizes administrative processes, strengthens organizational agility, and builds a high-performing leadership team aligned to a shared vision. This role plays a critical part in shaping corporate strategy and ensuring the health system’s long-term financial and operational effectiveness.
The Corporate Shared Services (CSS) Executive Lead is an executive leader in Health Shared Services (HSS), accountable to lead the corporate shared services portfolio with 4,000 staff and budget of $800M within the organization and provide the vision and strategic leadership for system-wide delivery and integration of core services that will support the health system in Alberta through a shared services model.
The CSS Lead is accountable to develop and maintain an integrated shared services model supporting partner/client organizations across the health system. This role is accountable for establishing long-term corporate service priorities for HSS, developing strategies to scale these priorities across the health system, and building consensus with PHA/PHC executives toward implementation and operationalization system wide.
This position provides executive leadership for a suite of comprehensive corporate functions including capital management, facilities management, supply management, contracting and procurement, performance management, finance services (e.g., accounts payable), financial management and reporting, and insurance and debt, ensuring that operations and services align with the strategic objectives of the health system.
The CSS Executive Lead provides strategic recommendations and advice to the CEO and other members of the executive team on business and financial planning, risk and compliance, and financial performance and champions fiscal responsibility and sustainability to ensure the organization’s long-term financial health and resilience.
Qualification & Requirements
Required
- The successful candidate possesses a bachelor’s degree at a minimum in accounting, business, finance, supply chain management, facilities management, capital management, or a related discipline.
- Where the bachelor’s degree is not in supply chain management, facilities management, or capital management, a relevant certificate or diploma in one or more of these areas is required. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- A minimum of ten years senior management experience, preferable in a health care environment is required for this position.
- Experience in contracting, procurement, or supply chain management required.

- The Corporate Shared Services Executive Lead possesses a demonstrated ability to develop organization strategy and planning, as well as the ability to develop and foster strategic relationships to support service delivery.
- Along with the ability to lead strategic initiatives and manage change to achieve positive results, the successful candidate demonstrates leadership abilities, including comfort with decision-making and exercising sound judgement.
- The Corporate Shared Services Executive Lead possesses an ability to influence, negotiate, and mediate resolutions to complex situations, and skillfully communicates effectively with a wide variety of audiences, including interpersonal and public relations skills.
- The successful candidate fosters partnerships to achieve organizational goals, models innovation and creativity, and has a proven record of engaging in ethical conduct.

- Master`s Degree preferred.
- Professional certification (SCMP, CCHFM, CFM, FMA , or CPA) is a strong asset.
