Description

The Corporate Controller is responsible for the comprehensive management of financial reporting, consolidation, compliance, and accounting operations for our international manufacturing business. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in financial management, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance in a multinational setting. In addition, the Corporate Controller will lead initiatives to implement KPI dashboards for key financial processes and drive efficiency improvements. The successful candidate will possess the ability to navigate complex financial systems, bring a process and technology-oriented mindset, lead a global team, and support the company’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Accounting:

  • Lead the corporate accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.

Consolidation:

  • Manage the consolidation of financial statements for multiple entities and international subsidiaries.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies in the consolidation process.

United States Payroll:

  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinate with HR to address payroll-related issues and ensure timely and accurate employee compensation.

Within North American Shared Services:

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely processing of invoices and collections.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize cash flow and manage working capital.

General Accounting:

  • Manage day-to-day general accounting operations including ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate recording of transactions and adherence to internal controls.

Equity Administration:

  • Oversee equity administration processes, including stock option plans, equity awards, and related accounting treatments.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting requirements and reporting obligations.

SEC Reporting:

  • Prepare and review SEC filings including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K and other required disclosures.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports in compliance with SEC regulations.

Technical Accounting:

  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) and assess their impact on the company.
  • Provide guidance on complex accounting issues and ensure proper application of accounting principles.

Audit:

  • Coordinate and manage internal and external audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information.
  • Interact with the Audit Committee and Board members, including regular quarterly updates to the Audit Committee.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a senior leadership role within a publicly traded company. Experience with public accounting firms is a significant plus.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and international accounting standards.
  • Proven experience with financial consolidation, equity administration, and technical accounting matters.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management, auditors, the board of directors and other stakeholders.
  • Savvy with the use of technology for process improvements and proficiency in SAP, HFM (or similar consolidation software), SEC reporting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
