Description

The Finance Shared Services Controller is responsible for financial controllership, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial information for internal and external purposes. This role oversees finance operations through the Shared Service Center, ensuring strong internal controls, compliance with accounting principles (NIF’s), and efficiency in financial processes across multiple legal entities and several remote locations.

Controller (Shared Services)

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:

  • Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing, overseeing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Prepare individual, combined and consolidated financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) for corporate reporting, bank requirements and covenant compliance.
  • Maintain technical compliance with NIF’s, including proper accounting treatment for:
    • Leasing (NIF D-5) – Accurate accounting for lease agreements.
    • Asset Impairment (NIF C-15) – Regular impairment testing for assets.
    • Labor Benefits (NIF D-3) – Accurate reporting of pensions and post-employment benefits.
    • Revenue Recognition (NIF D-1) – Ensure proper recognition for customer contracts and incentives.
  • Manages external audit processes, ensuring full compliance with corporate and statutory requirements.
  • Monitor bank covenants and financial ratios, ensuring compliance with financing agreements.
  • Lead the reporting and FP&A for preparing variance analysis and financial forecasts.
  • Provide financial insights to support cash flow planning and debt management.
  • Collaborates with the Tax department ensuring compliance with local and international tax regulations (e.g. tax e-accounting, transfer pricing studies, etc.).

Accounting and Compliance

  • Maintain strong financial control frameworks to mitigate risks in financial reporting and transaction processing.
  • Ensure internal control compliance, NIF’S adherence, and corporate governance policies are enforced across multiple entities.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and transaction processing for accounts payable, intercompany transactions and general ledger across multiple entities.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions, ensuring compliance with transfer pricing policies.
  • Improve financial data integrity, balance sheet accounts reconciliation, quarterly attestations and reporting capabilities across all entities.

Shared Service Center

  • Oversee accounts payable, general ledger and intercompany, ensuring efficiency across multiple remote locations, in several legal entities.
  • Standardize accounting and reporting processes across all legal entities.
  • Ensure that internal controls and financial governance frameworks are in place.
  • Optimize ERP system and automation tools for better finance operations.
  • Ensures compliance with local and global accounting standards across legal entities.

Team Leadership

  • Act as the primary liaison between the ‘Shared Service Center’, corporate finance, plant finance teams, and external stakeholders across multiple locations.
  • Support cross-functional teams in optimizing finance workflows and automation.
  • Lead and develop the ‘Shared Service Center’ team, ensuring continuous improvement and strong financial talent.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Academic and Professional Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Experience in a Big 10 audit firm. At least 5 years (preferably with Audit Manager experience).
  • Expertise in multinational automotive manufacturing companies.
  • 10+ years of experience in financial controllership and accounting roles, with at least 3 years in a Shared Services Center.
  • Strong background in financial consolidation, technical accounting, and multi-entity reporting.
  • Hands-on experience in ERP system enhancements, and process improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (NIF’s), and local statutory reporting.
  • Experience in ERP Systems such as: Epicor-CMS, AS400, PRMS, or Promis.
  • Deep understanding of transfer pricing and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Experience with supplier web portal, and specialized software for finance automation activities (e.g. bank reconciliation, cash flow, etc).
  • Strong focus on understanding key drivers for accounts payables management, to maximize cash flow and cash forecasting.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish is a must.
