Description
The Chief Accountant will oversee all accounting operations and ensure the company’s financial health by managing financial statements, compliance, and internal controls. This position involves working closely with the Controller to support decision-making processes and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. The Chief Accountant will also lead the finance team, focusing on efficiency, accuracy, and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international accounting standards and tax regulations (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
- Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, and P&L reports.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to assist management in decision-making.
- Monitor cash flow, identify trends, and advise on corrective actions.
Audit & Controls:
- Lead both internal and external audit processes.
- Establish, monitor, and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Taxation & Compliance:
- Ensure accurate and timely tax filings, including VAT, corporate income tax, and payroll taxes.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and legislative changes affecting the company.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise and develop the accounting team, providing leadership and support in day-to-day operations.
- Train and mentor junior staff to ensure efficient operations and professional growth.
Process Improvement & Systems Management:
- Implement best practices in accounting procedures and processes.
- Ensure the efficient use of financial software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, accounting software).
Cost Management:
- Analyze operational costs and suggest cost-effective solutions.
- Monitor expense reports and budget adherence.
Qualification & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/CMA or equivalent qualification is preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, laws, and regulations.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
