Description

Diageo’s Global Business Operations (GBO) aims to demonstrate the Finance Operating Model by supporting standard processes and systems with effective and efficient shared services across Diageo, by internal services, through Business Operations centres across Diageo. GBO has an employee base of approx. 2500 FTEs providing business support for migrated markets across Diageo. GBO plays a central role in governance and compliance for Diageo.

This role, reporting to the Vice President – Risk, Controls and Compliance, is an individual contributor position responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining comprehensive business continuity strategies that ensure operational stability and service continuity across all Global Business Operations (GBO) functions.

The individual in this role will serve as a strategic liaison between global and local teams, driving preparedness, coordinating response efforts, and ensuring compliance with enterprise-wide resilience frameworks and applicable regulatory requirements.

AVP – Business Continuity Management

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Refine and implement the BCP strategy for Global Business Operations, ensuring alignment with global enterprise resilience standards and governance frameworks.

Program Governance

  • Work with the GBO SPOCs to design, implement, and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans for all key operational areas, ensuring readiness and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Risk & Impact Assessment:

  • Lead Business Impact Analyses (BIA) and risk assessments to identify critical business processes, dependencies, and potential vulnerabilities.

Incident Response & Recovery:

  • Act as the BCP lead during business disruptions, coordinating incident response, recovery, and partner communication to minimize downtime and ensure service continuity.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with functional heads across Finance, HR, IT, Security team, etc and other enabling functions to embed continuity principles into day-to-day operations and major transformation initiatives.

Testing, Training & Awareness:

  • Plan and conduct regular BCP drills, simulations, and awareness sessions to ensure readiness across teams and continuous improvement of response capabilities.

Governance & Reporting:

  • Maintain all documentation, metrics, dashboards, and reports related to BCP and resilience; present updates to senior leadership and for audit or compliance reviews.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay abreast of emerging risks, standard processes, and regulatory changes to enhance the organization’s resilience maturity.

Qualification & Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in business administration, risk management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Business Continuity Planning, Disaster Recovery, or Operational Risk Management within a global or large-scale business operations environment.
  • Strong knowledge of international standards such as ISO 22301 – Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS), etc.
  • Tried experience in leading end-to-end BCP programs, handling crisis response, and coordinating across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and partner management skills.
  • Professional certifications such as: Certified Business Continuity Professional (from Disaster Recovery Institute International), and/or Member of the Business Continuity Institute (from The Business Continuity Institute, UK), are strongly preferred.
