Description

The primary focus of this position, as part of the Finance Shared Services (FSS) organisation is to provide support to the Procure to Pay (PTP) Global Process Lead in the sub process areas of Vendor Management, bank Verification, Supplier Relationship Management workflow (SRM) Requesting and Approvals, Receiving Goods & Services, Travel & Expense and Payables as AbbVie moves to standardized global processes supported by one ERP system (SAP). The role has a crucial responsibility in keeping over 13,000 current (2025 census) PTP users informed about key areas of the process and system functionality, upcoming enhancements. The role will have direct reports to manage.

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, FINANCE

Key Responsibilities

  • Heads the Process Lead part of the overall FSS Procure to Pay team
  • Acts as delegate for the Global Process Lead, PTP in time of business travel and out of office events
  • Leads the identification of process improvement opportunities in the PTP process area
  • Drives prompt maintenance of all PTP Standard Operating Procedures and Country Variants post an enhancement that impacts them
  • Leads integration projects end to end using Smartsheet methodology
  • Leads the Local Key User team – providing regular updates on upcoming enhancements, impacts of changes and go live activities
  • Leads prioritization of PTP ERP enhancement requests and support tickets with BTS PTP SAP technical team, Finance Shared Services teams (e.g. Record to Report (RTR)) and other key functional teams.
  • Engages functions outside of FSS in all changes to the PTP operating model – Tax, Treasury, Procurement, Corporate Headquarter Functions, Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC).
  • Supports the Design, Build, Test and Rollout phases of Project Genesis – the Procurement Transformation project that includes the SRM workflow replacement build into the current S4 HANA platform – as well as the deployment of Tonkean as the Demand Intake Solution and Coupa applications in the Sourcing, Contracting, Supplier Onboarding and Supplier Portal areas.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Requires 8-10 years progressive accounting or finance experience.
  • Knowledge of the end to end Source to Pay processes – but you don’t need a full comprehensive understanding.
  • The ability to interact with and support senior level management and to partner effectively and independently in a matrix organization
  • Ability to drive, influence and manage change
  • Project Management using Smartsheets
  • Knowledge of S4 HANA – key PTP system attributes, roles and functions
  • Knowledge of Coupa procurement applications and Demand Intake solutions
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, planning and decision making skills and ability to work independently.
  • Extensive interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a high energy level.
  • The ability to manage and coordinate multiple activities and shifting priorities under tight timeframes.
  • A highly motivated self-starter who can translate broad directions into high quality analytical output.
  • Open to new ideas, creative and utilizes value-added principles in approach.
  • People Leading skills in the ways of AbbVie Leadership

Preferred

  • Prefer experience in Finance and Procurement
  • Previous internal audit and/or SOX compliance experience is a plus

Education Requirements

  • BA/BS in Finance or Accounting. MBA/CPA preferred
