Description
The Director, Financial Shared Services will serve as a key finance leader responsible for consolidating financial insights across business units to support executive decision-making, operational performance, and long-term company growth. Partnering closely with the CFO, VP, Finance, and Controller, this role will oversee enterprise budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting, cash flow visibility, and financial planning while helping build scalable financial systems, infrastructure, and processes. The ideal candidate is a strategic yet hands-on finance leader who thrives in fast-paced, growing environments and has a strong background in operational finance (Collections, Billing, AP), financial transformation, process improvement, and cross-functional leadership. This role offers strong potential for growth and advancement within the company and is ideal for someone who can design and optimize processes, drive operational improvements, and lead a high-performing team!
Compensation: $195,000 – $220,000 (possibly higher for higher-level candiate) + 20% bonus
Hybrid Flexibility: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote
Key Responsibilities
Shared Services (Billing, Collections, Accounts Payable)
- Oversee shared services operations across accounts payable, billing, and collections, driving process efficiency and accuracy
- Improve billing and collections processes to enhance cash conversion and working capital performance
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure timely and accurate financial information flow across the organization
- Enhance reporting capabilities and financial data visibility across business units
- Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process redesign
- Support liquidity management and enterprise cash flow visibility
Finance
- Develop long-range financial plans, annual budgets, and rolling forecasts aligned with business objectives
- Manage the company-wide budgeting process, including timelines, guidance, consolidation, and performance tracking
- Provide enterprise-level financial insights by consolidating inputs across business units
- Deliver scenario modeling, forecasting, and risk analysis to support decision-making
- Establish and monitor KPIs and performance metrics
- Identify cost optimization, revenue recovery, and working capital improvement opportunities
- Partner with CFO and leadership on capital allocation and strategic initiatives
- Prepare financial reporting and presentations for executive leadership and the board
Accounting / Controls Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely financial records, reporting, and financial discipline across the organization
- Strengthen internal controls, policies, and governance processes
- Maintain strong data integrity and reporting accuracy
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Support audit readiness and ongoing compliance initiatives
- Maintain financial controls appropriate for the company’s stage of growth
Leadership, Process Improvements, & Cross-Functional Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a finance team, including managers and individual contributors
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support financial reporting and business initiatives
- Identify areas for finance function growth and scalability
- Continuously improve financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities
- Own and enhance financial systems, tools, and infrastructure (ERP, reporting, data integrity)
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualification & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA preferred
- 10-15+ years of progressive experience in financial operations/shares services
- Past experience resolving complex issues and automating processes within shared services, specifically billing, collections, and accounts payable
- Experience with process improvement, cost optimization, and KPI development
- Ability to operate in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and influence stakeholders
- Experience within the Transportation & Logistics industry is a plus
- Proven leadership experience managing teams
