Description

We are seeking a Director of Shared Financial Services to support our team at Tarkett Sports. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing the shared services function to centralize payroll, tax operations, commissions, and potentially accounts payable and accounts receivable within a multi-entity organization.

This role aims to build a scalable shared services model, ensure process standardization and governance, and collaborate closely with the Organizational Transformation team to align operations with enterprise systems and controls. The position follows a hybrid schedule and is based in the Calhoun or Tualatin office in the United States, or the Montreal office in Canada, and reports to the Vice President of Finance.

Key Responsibilities

Shared Services Leadership & Transformation

  • Build and lead a centralized Shared Services organization across multiple entities and jurisdictions, while managing resistance from legacy entity stakeholders, maintaining service continuity.
  • Develop and execute a phased centralization roadmap with minimal business disruption
  • Standardize processes, controls, and service delivery while accommodating local statutory requirements
  • Establish KPIs, SLAs, dashboards, and governance frameworks
  • Drive operational excellence, automation, and scalability to support growth and acquisitions

Payroll, Commissions & Tax Operations

  • Oversee end-to-end U.S. and Canadian payroll operations (including union/certified payroll where applicable)
  • Govern commissions administration, payout accuracy, and workflow approvals
  • Lead operational execution of indirect tax processes, with emphasis on construction related sales & use tax
  • Partner with Corporate Tax, Legal, Finance, and project teams on tax implications, filings, audits, and compliance
  • Ensure strong internal controls, documentation, and audit readiness

Governance, Controls & Risk Management

  • Design and enforce segregation of duties across Payroll, Commissions, Tax, AP, and AR
  • Establish enterprise approval hierarchies and payment controls
  • Identify and mitigate operational and compliance risks
  • Strengthen internal control frameworks to be ERP ready and support future audit needs
  • Present operational insights and performance metrics to senior leadership

Future Expansion (AP & AR)

  • Develop the roadmap and process design for transitioning AP and AR into Shared Services
  • Partner with Finance leadership to onboard vendor management, payment processing, billing, and collections

Qualification & Requirements

What you need for success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in shared services, payroll, accounting operations, or finance transformation
  • 5+ years leading multi‑functional teams
  • Proven experience centralizing processes across multi entity‑ environments
  • Strong knowledge of payroll, commissions, tax operations, and finance process management
  • Experience with ADP, Workday, Concur, ERP systems, and transformation initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operational risk, compliance, and audit ready‑ processes
  • Ability to travel to the United States and flexibility in work hours may be necessary to meet projected deadlines.
