Description

The CFO, Pharmacy – Clinical Shared Services, is the senior finance leader responsible for enterprise pharmacy financial performance across inpatient and outpatient pharmacy, infusion services, 340B programs, and retail and specialty pharmacy operations. This executive leads the development of short‑ and long‑term financial strategies, identifies growth and optimization opportunities, and ensures disciplined financial execution across a multi‑billion‑dollar portfolio.

The role serves as the single accountable executive for enterprise pharmacy financial performance, including direct P&L responsibility for Credena Health, LLC, alongside oversight of additional pharmacy service lines and programs. The portfolio encompasses complex revenue, inventory, rebate, 340B, and payer dynamics that require strong financial ownership and close operational partnership.

Chief Financial Officer, Pharmacy – Clinical Shared Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise financial leadership for pharmacy services , overseeing financial strategy, planning, and performance across inpatient, outpatient, retail, specialty, infusion, ambulatory, and contract pharmacy operations.
  • Lead development of the pharmacy operating budget, capital plan, and long‑range financial forecast , integrating volume, mix, reimbursement, drug acquisition costs, labor, and supply expense assumptions.
  • Oversee monthly financial reporting and variance analysis for the pharmacy portfolio, translating complex drivers (drug mix, 340B, payer dynamics, utilization trends) into clear insights for executive and operational leaders.
  • Drive margin improvement and cost management initiatives , including drug sourcing strategies, inventory optimization, labor productivity, site‑of‑care optimization, and expense discipline.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise pharmacy financial benchmarks , leveraging internal and external data to assess performance, identify opportunities, and support operational accountability.
  • Provide financial oversight for 340B programs and contract pharmacy arrangements , ensuring accurate savings measurement, and transparent reporting of financial impact.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives , including specialty pharmacy expansion, infusion strategy, retail footprint optimization, and partnerships; oversee business cases, pro formas, and investment analyses.
  • Partner closely with pharmacy operations and clinical leadership to align financial strategy with care delivery, access, quality objectives, serving as a trusted advisor and thought partner.
  • Collaborate with system shared services and enterprise functions to advance pharmacy‑related strategies in revenue integrity, payer contracting, supply chain, data and analytics, and technology enablement.
  • Oversee financial governance for pharmacy ventures and joint arrangements , ensuring appropriate controls, reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure strong financial controls and compliance across pharmacy operations, including inventory accounting, COGS recognition, rebates, charge capture, and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent pharmacy finance in enterprise forums and governance bodies , contributing to system‑wide financial strategy and decision making.

Qualification & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business‑related field.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business‑related field (preferred).

Certification

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) upon hire (preferred).

Experience

  • Ten (10) or more years of closely related experience.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in a leadership role or capacity.
