Description
The Head of Finance, India builds and leads a high-performance Finance Service Delivery organization within the India Global Capability Center (GCC). This role is responsible for leading offshore Finance and Accounting teams that support US-based entities and Enterprise Finance & Accounting functions, delivering a defined portfolio of services including forecasting and management reporting support, record-to-report activities, and governance oversight for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
This role does not own India captive legal-entity Finance or Accounting. Instead, it partners closely with US Finance and Accounting leadership to drive operational excellence, cost transparency, process transformation, and strong internal controls across offshore-delivered services.
This strategic leader works in close partnership with finance leadership to build and sustain the GCC Finance operating model that supports Enterprise FP&A and Accounting. Through shared governance, a clearly defined service catalog, and aligned delivery standards, the partnership advances Empower’s talent strategy, strengthens critical capabilities, and enables scalable growth through offshore delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute a multi-year GCC Finance strategy, operating model, and investment roadmap aligned with enterprise priorities, cost targets, and service quality objectives.
- Support annual budgeting process, forecasting, and long-range planning; establish productivity metrics (e.g., cost per FTE, unit cost per service) and track benefit realization.
- Provide monthly budget, headcount, and cost reporting to Enterprise FP&A and Finance leadership, including variance analysis, headcount tracking, offshore/onshore mix, and productivity trends.
- Establish structured service transition methodologies, including scope definition, knowledge transfer, documentation, cutover, stabilization, and hypercare.
- Partner with US Finance leadership to sequence scope migrations and capability builds, including readiness for SAP and S/4HANA-enabled process changes.
- Build strong partnerships with regional and functional Finance teams to ensure service delivery aligns with business needs and stakeholder expectations.
- Provide governance and oversight to ensure controls, standards, and performance management are consistently applied across Finance services.
- Oversee delivery of monthly and quarterly close activities performed by offshore teams supporting US entities, ensuring accurate US GAAP- and IFRS-compliant financial reporting, reconciliations, and intercompany settlements.
- Design and enforce Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICOFR) across record-to-report, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and payroll interfaces, including documentation, walkthroughs, testing, and ongoing monitoring.
- Coordinate internal and external audits related to offshore-delivered Finance and Accounting processes; remediate findings promptly and sustain control effectiveness.
- Build and maintain the Finance service catalog, service-level agreements (SLAs), and cost transparency across all Finance towers within the captive.
- Define, monitor, and report KPIs and SLAs; deliver consistent performance reporting to executive leadership and implement escalation and remediation mechanisms.
- Lead a high-performing organization emphasizing expertise, accountability, quality, and cross-functional collaboration; develop a leadership bench with clear career paths and succession planning.
- Lead, mentor, and develop talent through coaching, capability building, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement focused on standardization, automation, and analytics to improve cycle times, reduce risk, and enhance decision-making.
Qualification & Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (CA) certification required; MBA preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in Finance and Accounting, including at least 3 years in senior leadership roles within a GCC or GBS environment (financial services experience strongly preferred).
- Experience in FP&A, including budgeting, forecasting, headcount modeling, productivity analysis, and management reporting in a complex, global environment.
- Deep expertise in US GAAP and IFRS with a strong understanding of global accounting, reporting, and controllership standards.
- Proven experience partnering with geographically dispersed Finance teams and senior leadership stakeholders in a matrixed global organization.
- Hands-on working knowledge of SAP preferred; exposure to S/4HANA and Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) tools preferred (e.g. planning, forecasting, workforce or cost management solutions), with demonstrated ability to lead Finance through systems and process change.
- Proven track record leading large-scale Finance transformation and automation initiatives.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
- Experience with ICOFR and control frameworks, with the ability to translate control requirements into practical operating routines within an offshore delivery model.
