Description

Responsible for developing and managing Shared Accounting Services, including maintaining policies and ensuring execution of key accounting processes (cash disbursements, cash application, fixed assets, and master data management). Accountable for ensuring a robust control environment is in place for shared accounting services. Highly collaborative with the Corporate Controller, Treasury Director, and other functional leaders. This role reports to the Vice President – Finance.

Key Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Manages day-to-day, monthly, and yearly operations in Accounts Payable (AP), cash disbursements, Accounts Receivable (AR), cash receipts, and Travel and Expense (T&E) processing.
  • Development and effective execution of shared accounting services controls and policy, in coordination with the Corporate Controller.
  • Actively develops and executes continuous improvements and technology strategies, in collaboration with peers and Corporate Controller.
  • Establishes and maintains robust master data controls and processes which may include suppliers, general ledger (account/product hierarchy) etc.
  • Support accounting inquiries from Rite-Hite, Arbon and Independent Representative network and propose corrections as needed.
  • Manages month-end close process and the balancing and reconciliation of AP, AR, Fixed Assets, and other accounts timely.
  • Develops and maintains T&E policy and review for adherence, leveraging technology and automation wherever possible.
  • Partners with Treasury to ensure established payment terms are reflected in payment processes; actively seeks to eliminate manual/check payment process to automated payments (ACH etc).
  • Partners with Treasury and Credit to develop systematic processes to address unapplied cash in a timely manner.
  • Assist with tax accounting including sales & use tax on purchases.
  • Implements and maintains systems and processes regarding Fixed Asset and Lease Accounting.
  • Main contact for the annual audit for transactional areas of shared services.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Shared Accounting Service processes and controls are robust, communicated and followed.
  • Master data management for accounting (i.e. ledger, product, supplier).
  • Actively assesses process and controls for ongoing automation and use of technology to eliminate manual work.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This role supervises all Shared Accounting Service resources and is responsible for training and development. Direct and indirect reports will range from 9 – 15 employees.

Qualification & Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of advanced level accounting experience required.
  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience assessing and deploying process automation and technology preferred.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • An understanding and mastery of accounting principles and financial controls.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to achieve results through collaboration.
  • Familiarity and leadership in the ongoing use of technology to continuously improve financial processes and controls.
  • An ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial leaders in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Travel up to 10% (domestic).
